Question about Jl Audio 500/1 Car Audio Amplifier

My JL subs just dont beat like the ONES IVE HAD before as well as the ones my friends have had

Ive just recently had a pair of JL W3's and a JL 500/1 amp installed by an authorized dealer but the system just dont beat like a JL system is supposed to. I suspect the wiring scheme to be the culprit but im not sure. The positive wire from the right speaker is installed in the positive side of the amp. The neg wire from the left speaker is installed in the neg side of the amp. Now the remaining positive and neg wire from each speaker are not connected to the amp they are connected to each other. Is this wiring scheme the problem? Should it be wired differently to really make the subs PUNCH? and if so how do i remedy the problem

Sounds like they have your sub amp in mono but they put the speakers in series which totally cancels the benefit of running your amp in mono. you will probably be happier if you just hook the left speaker to left plus and minus and the right to right plus and minus. Cuz even though subs aren't directional they do pass some higher frequencies that are and that dilutes the stereo effect.

Make sure all your connections are tight , really tight . Check ground , make sure it's to clean shiney metal. Three subs are going to have a low ohm load if paralleled . These amps are not 1 ohm stable ,if below 1.5 ohm's you will have problems. They need to be series paralleled to raise the ohm load. These amps put out the same power from 4 to 1.5 ohms.

Why doesnt my jl 1000.1 pick up my 13.5w7

ohm load check the way you wired it if the amp can handle 1ohm make the sub 1 ohm dule 2 ohm subs hook the neg from one coil to the pos on the other then take the empty neg hook it bridged to the neg on the amp and empty pos to the pos on the amp also check to see if you hooked it up bacwards subs dont hit hard when they are beating in and not out

Kickers dont beat like they should

try to check and clean the wiring as clean as possible to avoid messing up on your connection. Check the polarity of you subs to yuor amp if you have it connected on the outher way around it would not give you a good result. check the polarity this will solve your problem. Over powering your sub will fry it easily try to tune it a 10" sub wont give you a 15" performance..

Subs dont beat like they should

you've spent alot of money on **** by the sounds of it!!. you should only ever run multiple subs the same brand, power and resistance you can just connect any old subs to a system you need to wire them depending on the load that the amp needs to see. first thing is to try the amp/s on a individual sub to check your amps still work once done check the subs 1 by 1.

Best way to set up my car sound system???

This is a multi-tiered question. First of all, you're going to want to run the subs at a 2ohm load (if the amp is capable) to get the maximum power from it. Use the 5.0.1 for the subs only, that's what it's designed for. Run the cap in conjunction with only the sub amp as it has the largest power requirement. You can not link the two amps to increase output as they are first of all different amps and second of all not designed to run that way. Some amps are but they must be identical.
Set the crossover on the sub amp probably no higher than 80Hz (I like it lower than that but that's a personal preference) and turn the sub-sonic filter off.
Now, one of the most important things about a subwoofer is it's encosure. If it's a properly built box designed for your subs specifically then you should be ok. You dont' specify if it's ported or sealed etc. That would be helpful to know as well as it's approximate size (air volume).
The head unit can also have some bearing on how things sound, as I recall the Sony X-Plod units are fairly decent for the price and if set up properly should sound ok.

If you need further assistance please provide a little more info about the sub enclosure etc.

good luck!

Car amp's stopped working. Putting out a heart beat sound through subs but no bass.

could be low current ,disconnect all power including ground for 20min N.B most amps will seem to be shorted at output but this is normal due to damping ratio.
