Question about Kingston (DTIU3/2GB) 2 GB USB Hard Drive

2 Answers

How do I get the information or photos from the Kingston 2gb Data Traveler on to my computer? I have put the device in the usb port the computer has detected it as hardware but that is all. It does have its own driver so something should show up on the computer so that I can use it.

It would be helpful if you could indicate the operating system and computer type. Older Windows operating systems (98SE and 95B, for example) need a driver for every make and model of USB device that one wants to use, while Windows XP and later drivers are "universal" and can handle most USB memory devices, cameras, printers, scanners, etc. without having to install a new driver. With the proper driver, the USB thumb drive should simply show up as a removable drive on your computer and you should be able to drag-and-drop folders and files just as if it were a built-in hard drive.

Does Windows (assume u r running Windows) detect the new hardware when you connect it to the USB....
what Windows version r u using.....Vista / Win7 has some issues with respect to some drivers not getting fully loaded while installing the OS.
try the foll;
go to Device Manager/Universal Serial Bus Ctl/+ (expand)USB Root Hub/right click on each root hubs/properties/power management/
Uncheck the box that says"Allow the computer to turn off power....."
the option if checked / ticked will disable the USB hub to shutoff...as such ur USB devices wont function properly.
Go to My computer/open it by double click....
do u c all the drives there....the USB device should show as "Removable drive" press F5 to refresh or use the View/Refresh comand in the menu...

Hello if your using Windows open My Computer and your device should show up as a drive (E: or F:) if it does right click it and open it. Before unpluging it look for the safely remove hardware icon down by your clock.Click this and choose stop before unpluging.

Not working USB data travelter 4 GB message error is USB device not recognized plz solved this problem and send me best clarification.

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
The error you quoted can be due to multiple reasons. Following are some main Possibilities, that you should keep in mind.

Make sure, the USB port, you are inserting data traveler in, is in working condition. And you are connecting the device properly.
This could happen due to Software conflict, for this you need to remove all the devices connected to USB ports (other than keyboard, and Mouse) and need to restart the system.. Moreover, you can check for the exact error, in the device manager list...
Try checking the data traveler, on some USB port, on which you are sure, that its working properly.
Check for the possibilities, quoted above and do let me know....
Concerned.

Try it in some other computer. If it still has a problem, take it back to where you bought it, and exercise the warranty to get it replaced.

The thumb drive might have some fault.
Plug it in other OS mainly windows XP and Linux.
If still same problem persists after tried in Linux, problem is with pen drive.
You can ask for a replacement from the dealer as it has guarantee for 5years.

Files on a flash drive can be corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon and then click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flash drive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the flash drive you need to format the flash drive, but you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.
If you need the data on the flash drive these WEB sites may help: -
