SOURCE: my "wi-fi" is on, but
First, may sure you are connected to a network (home or public), depending on your Operating System, click on Start, Control Panel, Network Connection, if you are able to view the Wireless Network Connection icon there just double click on it and select the network of choice. If not displayed there, it means that the driver is lost.
Second, may sure that you are connected with an IP address. To see this click on Start, All Programs, Accessories and Command Prompt; as soon as a black screen appears, type ipconfig and that will tell you if you are connected or not (will say something like Ethernet adapter....Media disconnected or connected and, same will apply for cable network)
Third, your wireless driver must be lost or uninstalled accidentally if so, just go to the manufacture website and under support, click on drivers and select your product model and the drivers available will be displayed.
