Question about LG WM-2277HW Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Is it hard to replace the Stator Hall sensor assembly? I have a quote of $260 plus to fix it. I see the part is available through LGPartstore for $156 and found it on another site for $106, although I'm not sure it's both the hall sensor and stator together assembly. Thanks

The stator is warrantied for 7 years by LG. The hall sensor can be purchased for 20 bucks thru Pcappliance.com. Should they warranty your stator have the hall sensor when they come and replace it. It is on the bottom of the stator where the wiring harness plugs in. It snaps on.

LG Washing Machine WM2032HW displays LE error code & makes a grinding (best i can think to describe) noise during the wash cycle. Starts right after filling.

LE error also referred to sensor assembly- HALL switch and/or stator assembly. Replace the assembly by removing the back cover, removing the rotor with one bolt. You have to hold the rotor from turning while loosening the bolt, slide the rotor off of the spline shaft, take off 6 or was it 8, bolts holding the stator, unplug the two wire plugs, and, now, out of machine, unclip the hall sensor and replace.
Reinstall opposite way.
Here is the stator to order.

Spin cycle isnt spinning. it will spin slowly during rinse but not spin cycle

Are you receiving a "LE" error code on the display? If so, you'll possibly need a Hall sensor or Stator assembly replacement. If you have your units date of purchase, it will possibly fall under the 7 or 10 year warranty on the direct drive assembly which includes hall sensor/stator/ and the rotor.

You can refer to LG for service if you'd like.

Error code LE causes

This will cause the washer not to spin. This is most likely due to a bad Hall sensor, or the Stator assembly. You can replace the hall sensor, or the Stator, which comes with the Hall sensor.

I have a LG Tromm WM2277HS that just flashed the LE signal. We have had this for a couple years and never had a problem...what do I need to do to fix? I have unplugged but should I drain the unit as...

LE stands for a Lock Error and is to do with the hall sensor on the motor.
  • Unplug the Machine for 30 minutes, and plug back in. Try washing again.
Here is the replacement Hall Sensor: http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Motor-Sensor/1268238

Before you pull the motor apart to replace the hall sensor, first of all, check the wiring to the motor.

Unplug the motor, plug it back in and try the machine again.
  1. To replace the sensor, you will need to remove the back panel to access the motor.
  2. Take a 17 mm socket and remove the center bolt holding the rotor assembly.
  3. Pull the rotor straight out and place it off to the side.
  4. Take a 10 mm socket and remove the 6 bolts holding the stator assembly.
  5. On the inside of the stator assembly, you will find the motor sensor connected to a 5 wire connector.
  6. Remove the connector and replace the sensor.
  7. Reinstall everything back together and the unit should work fine.

You could also try this:
  1. Unplug machine
  2. Drain machine
  3. Open machine and rotate barrel clockwise 4 times and counter-clockwise 4 times
  4. Plug in, power on, and run regular cycle and see if the error still comes up.

Getting code LE supposed to be motor overload according to manual do motors usually go bad or could it be in circuit board control

Motors rarely go bad. A Hall sensor, clipped onto the motor, can go bad, and is rather easy to replace. (the whole motor is easy to replace, for that matter) LE codes can also be caused by bulky loads, like quilts, sleeping bags, pillows, etc., being washed using a high spin speed. Always use a low spin speed for those type items. So, unplug machine, and replug. try another load, making sure to use appropriate spin speed for the load. If LE re-occurs, change the Hall sensor. (It has at least a 5 year part warranty on it in the US) To change Hall sensor, unplug machine, remove back cover, remove bolt from center of motor rotor, remove rotor, remove wire clamps and ground screw, remove 6 bolts holding motor stator (with all those electric coils), unplug wires from stator and sensor, unclip white plastic hall sensor from stator, replace hall sensor with new one, re-assemble. Sounds like a lot, but on a difficulty scale of 1 -10, it's only about a 3.

Time left display flashes LE.

It is a locked motor error. One of the following is causing the problem but you may need the help of a qualified appliance technician:
  1. The connector (3-pin, male, white) in the motor harness is not connected to the connector (3-pin, female, white) of the stator assembly. Connect them properly.
  2. The electrical contacts between the connectors (3-pin, male, white) in the motor harness and 4-pin, female, white connector in the main board assembly is bad or unstable. Clean the connectors and connect them properly.
  3. The motor harness between the stator assembly and main board assembly is cut or open. Reconnect or rewire.
  4. Motor winding is defective. Check the resistance between the terminals of the stator. Resistance should be between 5 to 10 ohms, else replace the stator.
  5. The hall sensor is out of order/defective. It is located at the stator assembly. If the hall sensor is out of order, it cannot detect magnetic field and the main board sees it as the rotor is locked then displaying the error code. Replace it if no evidence of defect is found above.

I have an LG WD 3243RHD washing machine/dryer combo and it is displaying LE. Is there anything I can do without calling a repairman?

LE on this machine indicates a motor error. The connector in the lead wire assembly is not connected to the connector of the stator assembly. You need to reconnect or repair the connector. Also, it could mean that the Hall Sensor is defective and you may need to replace the Stator Assembly.

LE light came on and washer stopped. Tried another load, washer filled but does not run

The LE code means a motor error. Lock error, you may have to try replacing the Hall Sensor and if this doesn't fix the problem then you need to replace the Stator as there may be aproblem between the Stator Assembly and the main PWB Assembly.

HI.
LG is a funny machine sometimes. Sometimes even their service manual does not show the parts you need.
In your case you have a motor (stator) problem.
! disconnect from power for 30 min and try again. Sometimes this resets the hall sensor.
According to service manual ( chapter 7)
• The connector in the LEAD WIRE ASSEMBLY is not connected to
the connnector of STATOR ASSEMBLY
Reconnect or repair the connector
• The hall sensor is out of order/defective.
Replace the STATOR ASSEMBLY

If this does not help take of your statot and see if the hall sensor can be clicked off. On the hall sensor is always noted the pat number. This you can try with sears. HERE is your service manual
