Why can't I record on my DVR?

Check all your connections and configuration between decoder to DVR and TV. I find it is more practical to use the DMI connectors for this purpose. Between my LG TV, LG DVR, LG Blue Ray Player and Decoder I use 3 DMI connector cables. Ideal for me because my TV has 3 DMI points, I just connect each of 3 items to TV via a DMI cable. Now connect decoder to DVR via video-audio cable (red-white-blue). This setup allows each unit to be used individually (i.e. tv viewing, recording, blue ray playing and when recording live TV the TV can be switched off while recording. Just remember to select the appropriate DMI connected unit on your TV remote (on "input" button).

I have a stand alone dvr that is locked by a pass word that wasnt set at all, but machine is locked and I can not change any functions on device. What can I do?

There are default passwords for Kalatel units like yours. If you know for sure that no one has changed the default passwords you can try these two. You do not need to enter a user name with these passwords. The password "3477" should allow you to access your unit as the administrator. Should that fail you can try the password "8111", although, if it works, it will reset your unit back to factory defaults. This means that any customization you have done to your DVR will be lost.

DVR seems to be hopping into pause, various speeds, loss of audio/video sync, and refusal to recognize remote control instructions.

if this is a dvr that you are renting from your cable company, then i would suggest calling them to have it swapped out. i have ran into this problem quite often. be forwarned, if they swap the dvr, you will lose your recordings.

Can't record won't recognize blank

Not sure, but could be as simple as switching to a dvd-rw disc. Not all recorders recognize all formats.

Dish network VIP722 DVR - cant get sound to pass thru TV

HDMI is digital sound. I don't know why it's not passing through. You could run a set of audio cables to the surround sound. The not a noticable difference in my opinion.

I'm looking to hookup the DVR with the PC via A cross-over cable

I have 2 DX2000's, In order for you to communicate with your pc, you need a Crossover cable, if you have a laptop or computers, connect the crossover cable to that, set your ip address on your computer to, (Note: since you never configured it, this would be the default setting). If you have the manual this is in there.,

Another method, if you don't have a crossover cable is to set the ip on your computer to Subnet, its a little more funky, the crossover would be easier, once you get in, then go to the configuration page and setup up the IPaddess for the DX2000, the Gateway to your Router and the subnet mask, once you do this, then you're able to get to it on your network, by typing in .

Dish 625 DVR

No this problem is not recognized as common probably due to the limited number of people who actually use optical audio. I hate to say but sounds like it may be time to replace the receiver once more or even trying to get a free upgrade due to this issue.
