Similar problem occurs after sled is warmed and runs for a while. Then it dies with no spark. Replaced the coil with new and the cdi with used but problem persists. Will examine the stator as I suspect a heat related issue with wiring or pulser coil.

If your coil and CDI are good that leaves the stator being bad. I went through this on my sons 350 Warrior this summer.

Snowmobile dies will driving

Next time it dies, grab a spare spark plug and see if it is Sparking. If it is Sparking (which I doubt), you have an electrical issue. Some have CDI's and some have Coils (I am not a CROSSFIRE EXPERT), If there is Spark, I would check the Compression

No spark, need to know if it will start if ignition is unpluged

Do you mean the ign. switch is unpluged? If the CDI is not getting voltage the coil will not discharge. She has to have voltage to spark.

No spark on 1998 Cagiva Canyon

did you check the primary coil? the ignition coil?if you think that these are all good, then you must replace the CDI.You cant test a CDI if this is good or not because it is a form of IC or integrated circuit, unless you have a manufacturer's diagram of it.You can check it by by detaching into its plug and get and replace an old CDI which you know is working, for example, get the CDI of the other motorcycle (if it has)the try to plug-in ,and if it fires, then thre you can surely know that the problem is on the CDI.
