Re: 1998 yahama snowmobile

If your coil and CDI are good that leaves the stator being bad. I went through this on my sons 350 Warrior this summer.

No spark

Did you check the coil wire itself? A break in it will be hard to see. Get another one, or temporarily borrow one from one of your plugs, just for long enough to see if it gets spark. If it does, you know the rest, I'm sure. I'd check all plugs and be sure that little wire under the cap is on the tab. I've had a breaker plate wire fall of on me once, took forever to figure that one out. Even an electronic ignition needs to be grounded at the distributor. You've probably just got a connection issue.

Let us know if there's still a problem.

coil, stator, or wire to ground and to kill switch, it is grounding out somewhere - remove from coil to test.that.
Get inline spark tester at princess auto cheapie 6.00 can, or 10 for a good one. spark plug, timing, head gasket burn valve, hard to tell without compression test. if low put cap of oil in cylinder and if goes up is rings, if stays low (under 50lbs should be 90.) if stays low is a valve or head-gasket.
Check plug if dry when trying to start vehicle with choke on then remove spark plug and inspect it.
is carb or fuel problem if dry, is electrical if wet!
check fuses, and stuff and wires but probably a CDI unit to control the spark, or if old is a set of points and condensor and the spark must be triggered by a CDI, a lobe, or a coil CDI unit combo.
The coils on stator send 12 volt, coil to sparkplug send 20,000 volt and the gap in points or ruluctors should be set properly, typically stator to reluctor is set by a book of matches not folded but put piece carboard in between, spark plug gap say double that..
I suspect without more input fuel or spark. if the engine wont turn over the fuel to oil mixture wasnt enough, or the oil injector for fuel mixture if two stroke maybe clogged and may destroy your engine.
I don't suspect this but giving things to consider later.
Some bikes there is wires in a rubber plug as a chaijn indicator and the chain can break this connection, not sure about 4x4 though.

I am not sure whether you have the 1.8L, 2.0L, or 2.0L Turbo; however I have included all below.
You Posted your Car Question under a different (non car) (Home| Lite On | Spark Plug Lite Green LED| Problem) heading.
I work on pretty much only vehicles, and found your problem today.

For the 1.8L SOHC
Firing Order:

(back of engine)
(front of engine)

For the 2.0L DOHC AND 2.0L Turbo:

Spark Plug Change

Check your manual for the firing order. If you can find that, then you only need to find one plug and you can work the rest out.
Take out a spark plug and stick your thumb over the hole. If you've got to do them all, take them all out.
Manually turn the engine over (or have a friend do it) untill you can feel the compression stroke.
At the top of the compression stroke, look where the rotor arm on the distributer is pointing: this is the lead for that cylender.
