Move your wireless to the second floor or add a second wireless router to your second floor. Use CAT 5 or 6 cable. Run it in a closet or cold air return. Use the special cat 5 or 6 for cold aire return use. Do not put it in a heated duct.

Poor signal range - I have just moved to a new three storey house. My router is installed at the front of the house on the main/mid floor. I receive a very weak signal on my laptop in my kitty corner...

The general rule for WiFi is to have the router placed at a reasonable height above the items that wish to use it. This is because the radio waves travel downwards
It was probably a repeater that was recommended to boost the signal.

Tip

Using a network extender at home

Network extenders and repeaters work to extended the range of your wireless network. You don't have to live in a big house to need an extender, where I live houses are made of concrete which makes the wireless signals a little weak when you're not in the same room as the router. I had played with the idea of getting another router to put upstairs since the signal wasn't reaching from the office on the first floor to the bedrooms on the second floor. But setting up the router and the network was going to be time consuming and I was just trying to make the signal reach a little farther. That's when I discovered repeaters, I set up one repeater at the top of the stairs in my house where the signal began to weaken and ta da! The network now reaches the whole house at full strength and I didn't have to set up a new network.

I purchased a router linksys by cisco model wrt120n wireless home router, i leave on a 2 story house of concrete. my problem is i can not used my laptop on the first floor.. i look on the unit of my router...

You can use WAP4410N Access Point in Repeater Mode with WRT120N to extend the wireless signal.

You could also try the Hawking HWREN1 Hi-Gain Wireless-300N Range Extender.

Another route you can try is Linksys WMP600N High-speed Wireless-N PCI Adapter with Dual-Band.

These devices should each be able to give you a strong enough signal, if placed properly, to connect to your Router.

I have a D link 615 wireless router andand three dwa 130 network adapters. I cannot get the remote computers to work. They did work previously with an earlier system. I have called tech support but...

Hi! Ok, for first, you have to buy some good wifi antenna and position it so does they can see each other. Connect it with your adapter on each PC.
One PC should have one wifi adapter + one RG58 cable to the antenna and one wifi antenna. on teh router side it should be the same think.
Without a good signal you can not have a network because the week signal quality and the package are missing and the computer system will drop the communication and the result is no network.

The signal strength on my gigaset sx763 s705 c431 7 is too week to go through cinternal concrete walls. is there a solution

I have a similar problem. Placing the wireless router in the loft/attic is a logical solution with the antennas going horizontally so the omni-directional signal reaches down into the rooms of the house. To get to downstairs you may need a wireless repeater on the first floor to repeat the loft signal.

D link dir 615. Weak signal, router is put on main floor, but we are only getting 2 bars on the computer upstairs, and almost no signal in the basement. How can we improve the signal or do we have the wrong...

Try turning the router 90 degrees, and measure the strength.
Turn it another 90 degrees, and measure again.
Repeat.
Repeat.

Move to a house with wood cross-beams, instead of metal cross-beams inside the first-floor ceiling.

Rotate the upstairs computer 90 degrees, and measure again.

Buy a "Wireless N" router, for greater signal strength.

Connecting to wireless from my basement!

you need to add a repeater or signal booster for reciving signal in basement from uper floor.

My expierince is that whatever roueter you buy doenst matter it will not work properly if you are using wirless on 2 diffrent floors. on a same floor it can work smoothly even having walls.

2nd Computer in basement cannot access Internet

if your signal is low in there the best work around would be to lay a cat-5 cable up to the router, the wired connection would be faster and more reliable then a wireless, or buy another wireless router and put it closer to the basement than the first and wire the 2 routers togher with cat5 using the second router as a fancy switch.

Yes, adding a repeater closer to the laptop will repeat or boost the signal so you get a better signal. You can also try replacing the standard antennas with better ones.
