Question about Dewalt DC920KA Heavy Duty Xrp 18V Cordless Drill/Driver

Clutch and speed selector problems

Bought a new 18v xrp hammerdrill 2 to 3 weeks ago and now whatever speed setting you choose, it operates in high speed. also the clutch is stuck on drill mode but when using the drill with a unibit or such, instead of the drill bogging down and just stopping, the clutch kicks in while set to drill mode.

Drill fell and broke now trying to put it back together gears and all, require help

Unfortunately on that model they do not service any of the transmission parts separately so there is no exploded view. Here is the parts diagram. You may end up having to buy a new trans assembly.

Cannot adjust chuck. It is stuck

It seems it has seized from rust or corrosion. Try using some penetrating oil or just get a new chuck. Mine did the same thing and I just replaced the chuck altogether.

Good luck

If you noticed this sound the first time you tried the drill, it is noise of the armature brake.  This noise is normal and not a problem at all.  Michael Mittelsdorf

New cordless drill won't run with charged batteries

Does the drill do anything? Check in the cavity where the battery goes and make sure there is nothing there to prevent the battery contacts from connecting with switch. I take it the charger indicates the batterys are fully charged. If you cant see anything obvious I would take it back and get a replacement.
