Detergent clumping issue

We are using the same powder detergent as before. The door opens, you hear it clunk after the machine fills with water. But now when the washing is done the detergent door is open but the soap is all lumped up in the well and down the door and on the dishes that are right there.

It has also not drained when this happens.

Sometimes the screen on the fill valve get partially clogged and slows the flow and when the timer engages and therefore enough water was not installed. 2. Defective fill valve (partially sticking valve sometimes will not let a unit get the proper amount of water before the unit starts and therefore the powder in not dissolved). I have got a hotpoint BFI62. The detergent flap does not open during cycle. Have replaced the detergent unit with a new one , but still have the same problem. Any suggestions as to the problem would be...

I have same problem - the flap was designed for powder, it jams with tablets. My current solution is to run it when I'm around, and when I hear it 'clunk' to release the soap, I open the door and help it!

Dishwasher detergent clumps in pre-wash and main wash compartments

Make certain that there are no apparent obstructions between water and detergent. If no obstructions and the detergent dispenser and spray arms are operable, then the detergent should dissolve during wash. Otherwise, try using a different kind and amount of detergent (e.g.: powder vs. gel or gel vs. powder, and less detergent). If still clumping, contact an appliance service company.

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please check the Water temperature by using a thermometer inside the dishwasher to measure the water temp. It should be as close to 125 degree F to 140 degree F as possible. Now try using the temperature boost feature if your dishwasher is equipped with this cycle feature and check if this will help your wash ability issues.

Now check the Powder soap by making sure that you store your soap in a dry environment and it is not stale and clumping together. Possibly try a different detergent like a liquid or gel. Also, make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.

To check the proper filling dishwasher will fill with water up to and around the heating element. If water is more below the heating element, you may have low water pressure or a problem with the fill valve. Try & listen if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.

For low water pressure, try to clean the screen at the entrance of the fill valve, sometimes the fill valve can fail and not allow the proper water into the dishwasher and may need to be replaced. And, check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks. Also make sure that the water is draining and is not accumulated in the dishwasher, if it is in dishwasher then check for clogged drain hoses and drain pump.

Low water fills are a very common trouble maker with today's dishwasher.

Please do rate this solution and revert for further assistance.

Powdered dishwasher detergent stays stuck in dispenser after wash

There is a rather delicate mechanism which controls that soap door. Often this is the first part of a dishwasher to cause trouble. Instead of using the powdered detergent in the soap holder just pour the measured amount into the floor of the machine.

Once you have used up the powder, you might wish to consider a tablet which also just gets tossed.

Powder detergent not distributing in ge quiet power 3 dishwasher

Try storing your powder in the dryer cupboard or in a warm area

It is more than likely that it is damp when it is going into the machine which means it clumps up instead of mixing with the inflow of water

Other thing to check is is there is a restriction at the back of the dispenser drawer which is not allowing the powder to flush down into the machine.

Finally , dry the dispenser slots with kitchen roll and give them a spray with a good quality furniture polish, allow it to dry for a few minutes and then buff it with a cloth, the silicone or wax in the polish should help the powder to slide

My whirlpool dishwasher soap dispenser is apparently not opening during cleaning. I find dirty dishes and clumps of soap in the hopper. Whirlpool quiet partner II

I bet your clumps of soap began with the beginning of the use of a different DW detergent powder.

Try this (trust me) Go buy a box of brand name Dishwasher powder (e.g. Electrosol or Cascade) Use it for two loads of dishes and report your results back here. OK?
