First make sure you have 220 going to your dryer.in alto cycles the timer will not work if the heating element is not working.next you nead to remove the back panal and the power cord cover.if you look to the right you will see the heater housing.at the bottom you will see two wires going to the heating element.remove the wires.with a meter check the element to see if it is open.if it is than the element is bad.part#3403585 if not than we nead to move up.check the next high limit switch to see if it is open.if it is than it is bad.next we nead to go higher to the hi-limit tgermostat at the top of the heater housing part#3977393. if it is open than you nead to replace it.

Dryer hot at first and then stay cold

Sounds like the thermocouple needs replaced. When ever the couple doesn't make enough electricity the gas valve is shut down automatically. Sounds like your thermocouple is right at the threshold of minimum voltage and doesn't generate enough voltage to keep valve open.

If not that try YouTube for some good diagnostic videos:

Hello,
Those symptons (humming/buzzing ¬ starting) are 99 out of a 100 times a sign of a motor that has locked up.

I have a Whirlpool WED 7300 Dryer and it keeps beeping during drying, Help

I had the simmilar problem when I heat load of sheets, I guess maybe it is because it is getting too hot inside the dryer, so I set the cycle to manual and adjust the temp. to low, it doesn't beep anymore. hope it helps.

Dryer doesn t get hot

it is going to be either the igniter for the gas or the heating element
you probably have an electric igniter. it is not igniting the gas to make the dryer heat i would definantly start with that

Dryer gets hot when not running

Getting hot when not started is a great concern.
I have a few ideas why, but this is a fire hazard and I would suggest unplugging and either getting help or replacing.
That said, there here are a few suggestions.
1) if the element is shorted to ground, it will get power to one side of the element and heat though ground. This, again, is serious.
2) if it heats forever and doesn't get warm enough to dry, this is another indication of an element that is not working up to power. Not getting 230 across the entire element and not getting hot enough to dry.
3) Many times when a dryer runs too long, the air flow if blocked by the vent being plugged or some plug withing the dryer itself.

Again, I am very concerned about this problem and suggest you not use it until it is repaired. If you want to check the element, it is fairly easy, but unit will need disassembled.
