Moved pos with restaurant pro express from one location to another and now cash drawer will not open, and kitchen printer will not work

Go in the setup screen > in hardware section> select "USB printer" to open drawer . ------ if this does not helps then you will haVE to remove each and every external connection and reconnect it again and check out.if that also does not helps then reconfigure the system again. if reconfiguring is not helping or if you are not able to reconfigure you can directly contact the pos SOFTWARE PRODUCT service center just by clicking on this link http://posnation.com/pos_support This will help. You could disable permission to end transactions. This would stop cash drawer pop but might not be feasable for your operation.

Hi Jon,
The cable from the cash drawer plugs into the receipt printer, not the computer. If you plugged everything into computer as you said, this is your problem. A tech not familiar with POS systems would not know this.

I have a client with a Posiflex system running PC America Restaurant Pro Express 9.5. This was a used system which I purchased from a discount house. I set it up and delivered it to the client a week...


You could try reloading RPE. It only takes a few minutes and could correct the problem. You would not lose any settings because they are stored in the database. Be sure to backup database before you do this.
But why aren't you running it thru the receipt printer. Much more reliable.

My cash drawer will not open. it was working fine until i had to unplug printer and when i plugged it back in it did not work


Reboot the PC. This should re-establish the connection to the cash drawer thru the printer. Check the cable connection from the printer to the cash drawer. You can check it in RPE by going to CASHIER FUNCTIONS and hitting OPEN DRAWER.

The restaurant i'm working for is changing to pc-america's cre pos. the old pos prints the food orders and table #'s in a large font on the kitchen printer. i am looking for a way to configure cre's...


As far as I know, there is no way to change the font settings in CRE (I hope you mean RPE). But, you may be able to change the default settings in the printer itself to get larger print. I am available for tech help if you need it, but you should have 3 months free support from PCAmerica with the purchase. I also do custom menu support for RPE. sysadmin@ccybernet.com
