Question about Panasonic TH-42PC77U TV
Hi, The issue you describe-no picture but there is still sound, also the popping noise you heard,is consistent with a defective Y sustain board. This is the big circuit boardfar to the left when you open the TV from the back. Now,if the popping noise was caused by one of the scan IC on this Y board,I can replace this with another IC ,but this is a very hard to do job, this IC is a flat pack SMD IC with many pins. This is definitely not something you can do. You may want to try and see,if this is the case, check if one of the scan ICs(the square SMD ics on the left side, lined up vertically on the Y board, all the way to the left -from the back) is blown-or may have like a pinhole on it.If you see one of the ics like that, you can try and ask some techs in your area if they are able to replace this ic for you. Hope i helped you. Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
