Question about Televison & Video

My philips model# 42pfp5332d/37 does not turn on. When I touch the power button, instead of the blue light alluminating, it's a orange blinking light. I hooked up my ps3 to it while the tv was on and might of switched some of the cords up. Did that cause the problem?

I had it unplugged overnight once and it turned on fine for about a day, I have the back cover off and its confusing on what parts could be bad. In order to turn it on, I must unplug it, wait about 2 minutes, plug it back in, then it clicks when i touch the power button the blue light appears then disappears. I touch the power button again, unless the orange blinking light appears, then it turns on fine. What do I do, take it to a tech or replace it myself?

I do not think that switching chords would cause it. Try turning on the unit without the DVDs, PS3 or other devices connected. The problem may be with the power supply circuit. The first circuit internally that comes after the power chord. There might be a burnt part, leaking or swollen capacitor that may need replacing. The same issue may also be present on the main board which can cause it to act similarly. If you wish to inspect the internals yourself, make sure that the power chord is not plugged in. Try first to have the device unplugged overnight to reset it.

I would only recommend that you try replacing the parts yourself if you have experience in handling these devices. Unlike old TVs where the solders are heated, these new TVs are "cold soldered" and conventional soldering would take skill. In case the problem occurs again. There may parts that have solders which are loose or ICs that may gone bad. In the case of ICs or integrated circuits these need testing and would require a specialist.

Have a Philips 42PFP5332D/37 TV. I just moved and after I plugged it in and hit the start on button. The blue blue comes on for a couple of seconds and turns into a red light that flashes 6 times

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.
Counting of number of blinks to Philips TVs is entirely different to that of other brand TVs. It is not a direct count procedure. The site have details about how to count the number of LED blinks [Fault Codes] to Philips brand TVs are given; along with details of the faulty circuit location.

My phillips 60 inch tv 60pl9200d/37 wont turn on the power button flashes blue

Look in the manual. (Page 4)

Turn the TV on From main supply: Ensure that the main supply is turned on. A blue indicator light on the front of the TV lights up. When the TV is turned on by the main supply, the blue indicator light will blink for 45 seconds. This is the lamp's start-up period. When the light goes off, press the POWER button on the remote control or power switch. Press POWER to turn on the TV.

Power Problems - won't turn on

first thing to do is determine if there is a blink code as that gives a direction for t/s. regardless, what you should do first is offload the y main and x main sustain boards from power supply one at a time as there is a common issue where these boards can cause load on power supply and if voltages come up with either one offloaded that board should be replaced before proceeding. if y main is the issue there is an upper and lower buffer board to left of that board and also should be replaced at same time as 3 boards complete a circuit and replacing one could cause damage to others.

Power Problem

usually blink code on front gives direction but first thing to do would be to determine if surrounding sustain boards are causing draw on power supply by disconnecting them one at a time from power supply. y is on left looking from back and x is on right looking from back. if led goes solid with either board disconnected check supply voltages and if come up and stay up replace that board. if no change then you would need to verify vs on command coming from logic main to power supply. should be labeled on power supply connector and should be 3 volts. if present replace power supply if not present verify if logic main board sitting underneath signal board has one solid and one blinking led on if verifying normal operation and if so replace small signal board
