I have a similar problem except that the printer is connected to a computer running on Vista. I already downloaded the MAC driver for the Kodak 5500 and it runs OK if the printer is connected to the Mac but not over the network as desired. My Mac is seeing the Kodak printer but when I order it to print it comes with an error stating that it could not find the printer.

I have been trying to solve the problem with Kodak's technical service. What they told me today is that they do not support network printing and that for them everything is fine for as long as the printer is printing locally (hooked to a computer). They also told me that maybe if I buy a printer server (I do not know what that is) it might work. Totally frustrating!

Try a Silex SX-2000 print server - these are different from your average because although they can operate as a normal print server (which the Kodak printer driver will not support - its problem is it looks for a directly connected printer) its primary function is as a networked USB sharing device (one at a time of course !)

Printing works great using the "Printing Auto Connect", because each PC/Mac will connect, print, then disconnect automatically (freeing the printer for other users/virtual sessions).

The only drawback I've found (when tested with Vista) is the scanning is hit and miss. "Scan to" works some of the time, Windows "WIA" scanning works most of the time, Kodaks own software doesn't work at all (probably because its cheating and looking directly for the attached USB device).

This is certainly a print solution though and unlike some print servers, it can support more than one device if you have it, using a USB hub (I use mine to TCP/IP print to a Dymo label printer as well)

I tried the Belkin AIO print server first (available in Europe certainly) an OEM version of the Edimax unit but I'd steer clear of this - hardware is nice (smaller than the Silex) but the software is awful, causing many crashes and blue-screens in Windows.

I'm in the same boat here, I just found out that my new 2008 Mac Pro will not be able to print to my Kodak EasyShare 5500. Unhooking the printer from the Windows machine, so I'll have to print EVERYTHING through a VMWare Fusion (Windows) machine.
It's a shame for Kodak, a nice printer, but without industry standard functionality I really don't see them capturing market share. I will buy elsewhere next time unless they get on the ball, fast!

This is the best I can do. This is a fairly complicated set up but if you would like to give it a try the setup in this link is supposed to work.

I have not attempted this my self but from responces to it I have a feeling it might be one solution to the problem.

I belive this is possible the other way around, Having the printer connected to the MAC and share it. Then when you connect to the printer from the PC you have to pick an apple print driver. The PC will send the print job to the MAC then the MAC will convert the data to the kodak driver. Atlease thats how I had to do it with a set up with an HP printer. Kodak's 5000 printers work with windows to windows printer sharring. Its a bummer they don't support Mac to PC sharing.

How can i install hp designjet 5500 PS on my com puter using network cable? My plotter (hp designjet 5500) do not have USB port instead it has netwok port from which one can install via the local network...

You are doing some mistake.

All peripherals will attach directly to the main server or main system.

Then from the main system you attach the network switch and share the peripherals with other

you connect the printer, plotter, scanner etc to your computer directly through the aproprite cable /

Can't print from my mac to my canon mp980 wireless printer

Sounds like when you added xp you inadvertently installed new print driver on server.
Try rolling back driver. But may drop xp from printing.

Best solution network printer to router bypass server. Will require hard wire from printer to router. disconnect from server may need network card for printer.

Kodak G610 printer dock won's communicate with computer

You know I had this same problem for a while as well. The only solution I found was that I HAD to use the Kodak Easyshare software in order to print anything with it. (That was the case with my XP desktop and my Mac laptop...). But sometimes it still would not spool properly and would require unplugging the printer and plugging it back in to reset.

Home Center will not open...Can't scan

I'm not sure if you tried this but download the clear utility from kodak here:
You will need to click start, go to control panel, click add/remove programs, uninstall the kodak home center, unhook the printer from computer, then run the clear kodak utility. Try then to reinstall after. I always install the drivers before the software by plugging the printer into the computer and running the hardware wizard in XP and pointing it to the drivers on the cd then I install the software after. If you need more help or clarification let me know. If this helped you please rate, thanks!

Just save your pictures to "My Pictures" folder (windows xp) or "Pictures" folder (windows vista).
Then, right click on your desktop and go to Properties (win xp) or Personalize (win vista), then on Screen Saver, select "My picture slideshow" and you will have your pictures as your screensaver.

Try updating the printer's firmware. I had the same problem with my Windows XP machine and my Kodak 5500 AiO Printer. Then, I went to Kodak's website, looked for my printer, and downloaded their firmware update. The only curious thing is that when I ran the software to update the printer, it said the firmware version of the update was the same as the firmware version the printer already had. I went ahead and updated anyway, and now it works!
Just be careful when updating the firmware on your printer, follow Kodak's intructions.

I am trying to share a printer.

Are they both under the same network? Can the pc find the laptop under network connections and vice versa? If not, then right-click my computer, go to properties, go to the tab 'Computer Name' click on the button change, and make it part of a workgroup of your choice of name. Do this for both making them part of the SAME workgroup.
Then, make your printer shared under that workgroup.
