Replace the remote is the only alternative if you are sure the remote is the cause and not the TV's IR receiver.

My remotes won't work. Apparently the remote sensor is not working. This TV does not have a remote in plug on the back. Any ideas?

I have the same TV, but I don't understand what you mean about 'both remotes' or 'remote in plug on the back'. Do you mean a smart remote, the receiver for which connects via the USB?

The original remote uses the IR receiver on the TV. The smart remote only uses IR for the On/Off function; all other controls go via USB.

It is possible that the IR receiver in the TV has failed (I have replaced several on other devices). This is a cheap component, easily replaced by a competent solderer.

Westinghouse tv turns off with rmote but cannot be turned on unless button on tv itself is used

How old are the batteries in the remotes? The on/off signal from the remote is the same. There is some lattitude in the IR reciever module for what it accepts. Low battereis may be shifting the signal's frequency or light intensity enough for it to not be recognized.

If sunlight is failing on the sensor or the remote's IR emitter, that can cause interference. Other IR devices can also interfere with the IR signal such as a "Remote Extender" being used for something else.

It may sound odd, but if your remote was working one day and not the next- was the room rearranged? If so, look around for possible sources of interference blocking the beam from the remote, or shining or reflecting light onto the IR reciever module in the set.

I have a universal remote systemlink 3 RCA. I need the code to program it. I have Goldstar TV. Thanks.

1.Use one of the following three digit codes for your TV set:
004, 005, 006, 012, 019, 056, 057, 058, 155, 156, 171, or 1722. Manually turn on the TV set.

3. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button until the indicator light is lit. Then release the CODE SEARCH button. (The indicator light is located above the TV button).

4. Press and release the TV button. (The indicator light will blink and then remain lit).

5. Enter a three digit code found at step 1 using the Number Buttons.(After the code is entered the indicator light will turn off).

6. Aim the remote at your TV. set and press the OFF/ON button. If your TV. set turns off, then proceed to step 7. Otherwise, repeat step 3 to 5 using the next code on the list. Press CHAN up button to double check for accuracy of the code. the programming is complete if the TV set responds by going up a channel. Otherwise repeat steps 3 to 6 using the next code on the list.

7. Press CHAN up button to double check for accuracy of the code. the programming is complete if the TV set responds by going up a channel. Otherwise repeat steps 3 to 6 using the next code on the list.

8. If none of the codes work, you will want to use the following to go through the codes manually (this will take some time):

Code Search for the right TV code on a Universal Remote (systemlink 3 RCA)
1. Turn on the TV.
2. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button until the indicator light lights. Then release the CODE SEARCH button.
3. Press and release TV button. The indicator light will blink once.
4. Repeatdly press and release the OFF/ON button until the TV turns off. It may be necessary to press the OFF/ON button up to 200 times before the TV turns off.
5. When the TV turns off, press the ENTER button. Now the Device is programmed for the TV set.

I have sony 55" wega

If this is just a problem with the remote specifically and 'not' manual buttons (on the tv) then the problem is either the remote or the IR sensor in the TV.

First thing is to check the batteries (which im guessing you have done) but its a process of elimination.

Second is to try another remote. If you can get your hands on another universal remote for example, then you can see if its the IR sensor on the TV, or just the remote control.

Place electrical tape over the IR port. If the problem continues, replace the TV. If the electrical tape helps, then there is someone near you, having fun at your expense.

Need codes for rcr 460 remote

1. Manually turn on the component
you want the remote to control
(TV, VCR, DVD, satellite receiver
or cable box).
Note: If you press an invalid key
during the Manual Code Search,
the remote does not respond and
the LED indicator light does not
blink. If you do not press a valid
Manual Code Search key (TV,
VCR, DVD, SAT·CBL, ON·OFF,
GO BACK), the search times out
after two minutes. When the
search times out, the LED
indicator light blinks four times
and turns off. The last
programmed code under that
component key is retained.
2. Press and hold the component key
(TV, VCR, DVD, SAT·CBL) you
wish to program. The LED indicator
light turns on and remains on.
3. While holding the component
key down, press and hold the
ON·OFF key. The LED indicator
light turns off.
4. After holding down both keys
for three seconds, the LED
indicator light turns back on.
5. Release both keys. The LED
indicator light remains on.
Throughout the
programming of each key, be sure
to keep the remote pointed at the
IR sensor of the component you
are currently programming the
remote to control.
6. Press and release the ON·OFF key
repeatedly until your component
turns off. Each time you press the
ON·OFF key, the LED indicator
light blinks, and the next code in
the list is sent. This process
continues until all of the codes in
the Code Lists have been searched.
If your component turns off, you
have found the correct code. (If it
cycles through and the LED
indicator light blinks four times
and turns off, all codes have been
searched. The Manual Code Search
method is exited.)

Press Stop when TV turns off.

It turns itself on and off repeatedly

Try this:

Unplug the tv let sit for a minute while you replace the batteries in the remote and cover the IR remote sensor on the front of the TV. Cover it with a piece of black tape or a piece of aluminum foil.
Plug the tv back in and turn on.
If it no longer turns on and off by itself then you have IR interference from some other remote operated device in the room.
If it does continue to turn on and off with the IR sensor covered then it is the internal wiring/processors and will need servicing.
