I need to know whether the ethernet card for the Optiplex GX 240 is integrated in the motherboard or it is a card in itself. Thank you.

Pretty much every computer built within the last 5 years has built on network interface. However, to answer your question completely - look at the back of the computer where the network cable plugs in? Is it clustered around the video/sound, power, printer, usb, etc (integrated in); or is it located elsewhere (perhaps in the series of long narrow rectangular openings openings where the expansion cards go - separate).

Hope this helps.

Hello my name is Israel. On your type of cpu your network card is integrated into th emother board. YOu can purchase one and just connect it inot one of the slots. the instructions as well as the software should be included in the package. It will be a very painless installation. You can probably get a dlink network card at Best Buy for about $15. Good Luck.

Sure you can't see the Ethernet card because that is integrated motherboard so that means all the controller cards(graphic, audio, network) are in same place in chip set.
First try to uninstall network drivers and to install again if that will not work you can install PCI network card (they are very cheap).

The network card (also the sound and video) is integrated onto the motherboard on this computer. You probably just need to install the drivers. You can download the drivers from Dell here. Also make sure the onboard network hardware is enabled in the computer's BIOS setup. (If you didn't use a restore set from the manufacturer and just install Windows, you almost always need to install the drivers for integrated hardware.)

Wi-Fi card can be considered broken only if its not able to scan for any available networks. Also, do check in the device manager of the computer. Check for the device status of this wireless adapter there. If its properly installed, etc., it should say, "This device is working properly". There is also a fix for other error messages. Regarding hardware breakage, we cannot come to a conclusion so easily as we have all these things to check. The case may be little complicated as its an in-built wireless card. We cannot even remove it and try on a different computer.

The 10/100 Integrated controller is the onboard network card

That basically mean yes it does have a network card built onto the motherboard.

If this helped please leave a Rating

Dell 4700 Computer Integrated NIC Problem

Check for the pins inside the integrated NIC to check if the pins are bent / disfigured. Does not look like the additional card is making any different, looks more like a moving NIC cable is makin the difference.

Lemme know if this helped!

Network connection

It probably stops working due to the heat. The solder connection to the motherboard may not be up to par. To get round it I would purchase a PCI network card and use that instead. If the mouse bothers you, you can always unplug it, but it is something that you dont need to worry about.
