Hello,
Depending on the laptop, you'll either need to press shift-f5 or fn-f5. This will give you a scrolling type option just as using the quick key "shift-tab" combination would give you.
You'll be able to choose between either your attached monitor, the external display device or both.
Hope this helps.

Connecting an External Monitor or Data Projector
You can switch to an external monitor or data projector by two methods. 1. Connect the external monitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and the laptop. The video information will automatically switch to the external monitor. 2. If you power up the laptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor by pressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make and model laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCD screen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fn key plus one of the function key a few times. The Aspire One has an external VGA port so you will use that and a VGA cable to connect to the projector. You may have to press the Display mode button (typically Fn+one of the function keys with the rectangle 'display' on it) to enable the external VGA port.

My Epson EMP-S4 LCD projector does not display images from my Averatec C3500 laptop. It displays "No signal".. Do i have to press any keys before it would display? I suppose it would automatically project...

When you connect a data projector or external monitor to the external video port on the laptop, power up the data projector or external monitor first then the laptop. The video info will automatically divert to the data projector/external monitor automatically.
If you have already had powered up the laptop first, most laptops will allow you to toggle between the LCD screen and the external video port by pressing the Fn key plus one of the Function keys, this key will have a screen/laptop symbol.

Projector does not display laptop screen

Many laptop computers do not automatically turn on their external
video port when a projector is connected. On many laptops, the activation function key is labeled with an icon or the text CRT/LCD.

Try the Function Key with the Icon of a monitor to enable the external video port.

If that does work, look at the settings on the projector using the buttons on the top.

Check the "Default Source"

Default Source toggles among Computer 1 analog, Computer 1 digital, Computer 2, and Video. This determines which source the projector checks first for active video during power-up. Highlight Default Source and click the left or right mouse button to toggle
among the options.
