Printer will not print

Printer will only print a yellow line about 2 inches from top of paper--I tried nozzle check(all colored lines print) and cleaning, but neither worked. I have a Canon printer--model PIXMA IP6600D

  • muskey77 Dec 09, 2009

The yellow line is the only thing that prints when I try to print a holiday football pool from a template. On the original, the headings are all outlined in yellow.

  • muskey77 Dec 09, 2009

Also, all my other printing attempts were fine.

Hi there,

Errors : If printer does not start/ Ink does not come out/Printing is blurred/ Colors are wrong/white streaks

Cause 1 : Ink tank is empty.
Action : If the ink tank lamp is flashing, ink is empty. Replace the ink tank and close the cover. IF print is not finished yet, just press the OK button on the printer to continue printing in the "no ink" state. Replace the ink tank as soon as possible after printing finishes.
Continue to print in the "no ink" state may cause damage to the printer. Replace the ink tank.
Note : If multiple ink tanks are flashing red, check how fast they flash.Fast flashing (about at one second interval) indicates that the ink is empty. Slow flashing (about at three seconds intervals) indicates ink is low.

Cause 2: Ink tank is not installed in the correct position.
Action : If an ink tank lamp is flashing even though ink remains in that ink tank, it is inserted in the wrong position. Make sure that the correct ink tank color is inserted in each position.

Cause 3 : Incorrect media type.
Action : On the operation panel, confirm that the media type selected matches the paper loaded.

Cause 4 : Print head nozzles clogged or shifted.
Action : Print the nozzle check for unevem ink output.
When a specific color is missing from the nozzle check the pattern, clean the print head.
*If the ink supply is uneven, perform Print Head Cleaning.
* If straight lines are shifted Align the Print Head-Auto head align.
If rules lines are misaligned or printout is unsatisfactory, adjust the print head position.
Print head alignment is performed automatically. However, you can align the print head manually if the results of automatic print head alignment are not satisfactory.
Note : *Automatic print head alignment cannot be performed from the cassette. Always load the paper in the auto sheet feeder.
*Ensure that the inner cover is closed.
1) With the printer on, load a sheet of A4/Letter-sized plain paper in the auto sheet feeder.
2) Align the print head automatically.
a) Press the Menu button.
b) Use right and left arrow buttons to select Maintenance/settings and then press OK button.
c) Use right and left arrow buttons to select Maintenace and then press OK button.
d) Use up and Down arrow buttons to select Auto head align and then press the OK button.
The confirmation screen is displayed.
e) Use up and down arrow buttons to select Yes and then press the OK button.
A pattern is printed and the print head is automatically aligned.

Cause 5 : Paper loaded wrong side up.
Action : Check the print side of the paper.
Note : Follow the instructions packaged with your speciality media for loading and handling.

Cause 6 : Ink tank is not fully inserted.
Action : Ope the cover, paper output tray and inner cover, and then press the Push mark on the ink tank whose lamp is off until the ink tank clicks into place. Once the ink tank is installed properly its lamp will light red.
Ensure that all the orange tape has been peeled off. If there remains a part of the orange tape, remove it thoroughly.

Hope this helps.
Have a good day.

Hi
It's usually caused by the "afterglow" of the CRT fogging the paper while it sits in front of the tube for cutting. It could also be a manisfestation of the "rainbow" mark that crops up once in a while, which is usually a reflection .
Change the "insertion delay”option in the magazine setup section. try 10 seconds. hope it will work.
Thanks for contacting fixya.com

On the wifi printer from my computer i can push print and the printer starts pushing the paper though but it wont have any ink or anything on it and it goes though rather to fast the ink is full but it's...

please try these steps:
1. Print the nozzle check - see if the color lines are complete, there shouldn't be any gaps. You should see a couple of black, yellow, red and blue lines.
2. If there are gaps (a few or multiple), do the head cleaning cycle and re-print the nozzle check. Observe for any improvements. If there is improvement, do the head cleaning cycle again and print the nozzle check until all the lines are all complete.
3. If there isn't any improvement, try removing the inks from the printer and put them back in. Then, do the nozzle check again. If that does not work, then the print head nozzles might be clogged. Please contact Epson Technical Support. t

Lexmark x1270 wont print color even though the cartridge is full.

A technique to improve print quality is to try and clean the cartridge nozzles. You may clean the cartridge by following the steps given below:

1. Go to the "Lexmark solution center." This can be done by clicking on "Start," go to "Programs" and Lexmark printer group. Click on the "Lexmark Solution center." Next click on the "Maintenance" Tab.
2. Select "Clean and Fix Horizontal streaks." Click on "Print". This will produce a printed page.

The colors that you should see here are black, yellow, magenta (a reddish purple) and cyan (a dark sky blue). You should notice the diagonal lines above and below the solid horizontal lines. These diagonal lines should be solid from left to right with no gaps.

If there are gaps in the lines or the print diminishes across the page, you should run the "Clean Print Nozzle" page a couple more times to try and clear it up. If you still have gaps at the top and bottom, you should "wick" the cartridges by following the steps given below:

1. Please open the "Solution center" again and go to the "Maintenance" Tab.
2. Select "Install color/black cartridge" and remove the cartridge or cartridges from the printer.
3. Get a damp paper towel.
4. Set the ink cartridge right side up on the damp paper towel so that the ink nozzles are against the towel and hold the cartridge in this position for about 15 seconds.
5. Now wipe the print head (on the bottom where the ink comes out) across in one direction only (left to right) until it looks clean.
6. Next dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure that the ink is flowing.
7. Snap the cartridges back into the printer.
8. On your computer, select "Old Cartridge install."
9. Repeat the "Clean Nozzle Page" one more time. If this fails to address the problem the entire procedure may need repeating.

Next, try this printer self-test by following the steps given below:
1. Power the printer off.
2. Press and hold the "Paper Feed" button.
3. While still holding the "Paper Feed" button, press and release the "Power" button. Continue holding the "Paper Feed" button.
4. When the printer starts pulling paper, release the "Paper Feed" button. It should print a test page at this point.
5. Power the printer off, as this test is continuous.

The self-test should at least print out a set of either a solid black or solid color bars, if not both (if you have a printer with both color and black installed simultaneously). Should this test fail, please try it again without cartridges installed. If the self-test still fails to take paper in and make sounds like the carrier is moving across the paper, this is a hardware issue, and the printer will require service. If the self-test completes without any cartridges installed, run the self-test again with only a color cartridge installed (If you have both black and color cartridges, after this test, run the test again with just the black cartridge installed). If you find that either cartridge causes the self-test to fail, please let us know.

If the self-test prints, but has lines or smudges or other print quality issues, please let us know.
