No internet connection, a network cable is unpluged

check the cables - may be cable is not plugged in properly or cable is bad or else the DHCP device (modem or router )is turned off .
Also check in device manager (RIGHT CLICK ON MY COMPUTER - PROPERTIES - HARDWARE TAB - DEVICE MANAGER , CHECK IN NETWORK ADAPTER 10-100 ETHERNET STATUS ) should be enabled
if everything is fine then reduce the link speed - same process but double click on 10/100 Ethernet - click on advance tab - change the value to speed and duplex and set it to 10 mbps half duplex and click ok - close everything 30 secs it should change the status .
try with the very first one with cables first please .

My internet speed is too slow, it only recieve 10Mbps as i view it on Lan. how can i make it to 100Mpbs? By the way my internet is connected on built-in lan (through Motherboard) do i have to buy Lan card...

So from Network Connections, you right-click the LAN connection, select status, and it displays Speed: 10 Mbps ?

If you select the Properties button from that dialog, and then with network card showing, select the Configure button; and from the properties shown on the Advanced tab, select Link Speed & Duplex. The value should be Auto Detect. If the LAN is configured correctly for 100 Mbps, you should get it.

hi,

If your network card or Lan Card is 10/100 Mbps, it cannot go higher than that. You can buy and intall new network card or lan card 100/1000 Mbps. And if you are using a switch, it support also the 100/1000 Mbps Card or else the speed will never go higher.

Running at 10 mbps

There's possibility that the network (router/modem/switch) you're trying to connect has limit to up to 10 Mbps only. Or it can be that the current LinkSpeed of the Ethernet adapter might be forced to 10 Mbps. Do the following to check this setting:
  1. Go to Control Panel> Network Connections.
  2. On Network Connections, look for Local Area Connection (for the D-Link adapter). Right click it then go to Properties.
  3. On Properties window, click Configure button.
  4. On the next window, go to Advanced tab.
  5. Look for Media Type, Connection Type, or LinkSpeed and Duplex Mode.
If the value is set to Auto Negotiation/ Auto/ AutoSense, try to force it to 100 Mbps.

Network is SLOW

I can assist with the full and half duplex question...but I'll need a specific HP model number for the Procurve in order to give you correct advice about it.

If the Procurve is not configurable, or has never been configured, then it is using autonegotiation to determine speed and duplex. Each of your computers should also be set to auto for speed and duplex.

The general rule of thumb is to make sure that speed and duplex for both ports on a link are set the same. For example, if the port at one end of a cable is set manually, then the port at the other end must also be set manually...to the same speed and duplex values. If one port is set to auto, then the port at the other end of the cable must also be set to auto.
