Hi.
If you are talking about built in icemakers.
Check if the icemaker is getting water. If no water is getting to the icemaker, then you may have frozen lines, a leak, or a faulty water valve, either the one located at the back of the appliance, or , depending on the model, the water valve in the icemaker.

Check also if the icemaker has ice that cannot release, in that case the melting ice may cause the leak, and the icemaker won't release the ice block because its release system (evap/mechanic) is faulty.
In case of icemakers with evap system and heating element (most of them use this system to release cubes), I have also seen the icemaker melting ice continuously and causing leak and no ice because of a plugged heating element that was on all the time.

If instead the appliance is not cooling at all , or if the appliance is an icemaker, there may be more faults. Most common one is having problems with the defrost system.
I can be more specific if you give me the complete model number, as written on service tag.

    I think the model is

    GD5SHAXLB12

Check water lines. You can try doing a complete defrost to check if the water lines are frozen.

Check the icemaker inlet valve: PS733408 .

If water is getting to icemaker and not freezing or if cubes are not releasing , check the molder : PS1735141
    and thermostat PS380941

There is also an access valve located at the back of the fridge.

Here the diagram of the ice maker:

Ice maker stopped making ice. Red light is flashing. Temperature is below freezing. We've already replaced icemaker and the refrigerator is not even 6 years old.

Ok open your freezer door and observe the flashing red light now push the flapper inwards keeping your finger and hand out of the way of the infa-red sensors you should observe the light it should not flash but glow steady if it does not a fairly simple attempt would be remove the 3 screws on that assembly pulling it away from its location and unplug the harness, now go to the other side and remove those screws and unplug the harness reassemble both sensors and screw back into place push the flapper back in is the red light steady? No then you will need a infa-reds sensor kit I believe they are now well over 100.00. I do hope clearing the pcb on the sensor by unplugging the harness works but if not you now know how to replace the infa-red sensor.........And if the light is working steady and no ice is in the imkr then fill with water and off you go....

Ice maker will not make ice

If you have water sitting in the trays and no action is happening, then i suggest replacing the ice maker complete as these spares are pricey and take a while to get to you , (In the hope that they are correct). On some units there is a small test button. If you have one, push or switch it to activate icemaker. Often this resetting brings the ice maker back on line.

Red light flashing on ice control panel in freezer section of my Whirlpool gold GS6NHAXVT02. I have the setting on ''on''.

The red light is supposed to flash. The number and frequency of flashes is a diagnostic tool we use to determine what is wrong if the icemaker is not working. If your icemaker is not working, count how many flashes before it rests, and let us know. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Icemaker not working- red light flashes constantly

The red light should flash twice , pause then flash twice constantly . If you close the flap on the left side , then the light should go off . This shows the optics (ice maker cut off ) are good .

Check the black tube ( fill tube ) , which puts water into the ice maker , to see if it is iced inside . If so , then the water valve behind the refrig is bad . It seeps into the tube and freezes , blocking the water flow .

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it freezes and dumps , then the water valve needs replaced . If it doesn't dump , and stays frozen in the ice maker , replace the ice maker . Also , make sure the coils under the front of the refrig are clean , as this will cause warmer temp in the freezer and the ice maker needs 5 degrees to operate .

Whirlpool side by side Ice maker has quite making ice

Open the freezer door and on the right side , make dure the slide is in the on position . If the red light flashes twice , then pauses , flashes twice , pauses , consistently , then close the flap door on the left side of the freezer . The light should go off . If these tests work , then the cut-off optics are good , and the icemaker needs replaced , due to the cubes not dumping . Also check the coils under the front of the refrig , to make sure they are clean of dust , lint , etc.

Ice maker stopped working

The laser , is supposed to blink . This laser , tells the icemaker to stop making ice , when the bin is full . Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the icemaker . If it doesn't dump the cubes into the bin , the icemaker is bad . Or , if there is ice in the bin , which hasn't dumped , the icemaker is bad . If the icemaker dumps the ice ( from water pour ) , then look above the fill cup , and see if the black fill tube is frozen . If so , then replace the water valve and turn the freezer temp down slightly . It will take several days for this fill line inside freezer to thaw . If icemaker dumps , and black tube NOT frozen , replace the water valve . The valve , is where the wall water line connects to on the refrig .

Ice maker has ice in it but will not dump in bin!

before i would worry about the lights flashing lets pull the front cover off of the icemaker and verify that the drive gear is not broken.

on the bottom of the icemaker is 1 screw. remove that screw then just slide the entire icemaker out of the refrig so that you can access the front cover. if the gear is broken just replace the front motor module pt# 8201515

if the gear is fine then located in the toe grille of your refrig is a tech sheet that will help you troubleshoot red light blinking.
