Power on projection tv will not stay on, Pioneer SD-P4565 projection tv

When you turn the power on, the tv will come on and run for 10-15 minutes and then just go off. If you wait 10-15 minutes you can turn it on again with the same results.

do you know where I can pickup a low voltage regulator if the soldering doesn't work?

  • dkendrick Jan 23, 2008

while messing around with the board, I knocked the top off what looks like a J 471, its blue plastic about the size of a small button. It sits on space VR181 on the power board. Any idea what it is and where I can get another?

Thanks-you have been great help. Its been since the early 90's since I have messed with transistors. I don't remember much. I have a good meter, just point me in the right direction.

    Thanks again.

HI i have a samsung HL-R5078WX/XAA, i seem to be having the saem issue. but wiht my t.v. it turns on. for about five seconds. then stops, recycles trys again. but no picture loads, and about after 8 cycles. it shuts off. and the lamp(green), timer(green), and the stadyby/heat(red) lights start blinking. and there is a louder than usual whining like a fan. but i know its not the fan because i unplug the fan and its still making the noise, like a medium to high pitch whining.

help please?

It sounds like its going into protective shut down mode. Let me do a little research and I will get back to you.

you probaly have a faulty low voltage regulator that is faily when it gets warm or possibly a bad solder joint on the power or deflection circuits. I would look for bad solder joints first as this set is over 10 years old.

Yes just give me the numbers off the transistors and i will provide a link to where you can get whatever part you need online with fast shipping. I have alot of electronic distributors that can even deliver overnight if you require.

The part VR181 is a variable resistor. The markings are j471 it actually means you need a 470 variable resistor at 5% (J). as far as the voltage regulator you will have to give me he numbers on theregulator itself then I can locate one for you or its industry tandard substitute. Hope this helps. Are you famillar with the proceedure to test NPN and PNP transistors? Let me know.

post your email and i will send you some software that will tell you how to check transistors, and it has a neat little feature where you can type in the number of the transistor and it will list all the subtitutes for that trans.

Sd-p4565 turns on but no picture

Even though this is powering up you still need to eliminate the power supply board. You will have to put a meter on the outputs and get a measurement. I would bet it is your power supply though.

TV picture goes out after 10 minutes of viewing with popping sound

It can be a couple things. Something bad on the power board. Or the vertical output circuit. How long ago did you purchase the television. Your best course of action is to have it serviced.
If you need any information or other assistance let me know.
