Question about De Dietrich Ovens

Open Question

Hello, we have a De Dietrich DOD338 double oven. We have had no problems to date but now need to change the light bulb in the main oven. Despite following advice in the manual we are unable to unscrew the cover for the light bulb. The top oven light bulb cover has been easy to remove and am wondering if regular use with the automatic oven cleaning programme may have fused the plastic cover. Please can you assist. Many thanks.

SOURCE: kenmore oven: glass dome for interior light removal

Hopefully someone answered your question by now. If not, the glass bulb cover sticks sometimes, but it does turn counterclockwise. Be firm with it, let it know who's boss. Once you've removed it, you can replace the 40 watt appliance bulb. (The manual suggests you unplug the range or disconnect power for your safety). Good luck.

SOURCE: Oven Light does not turn off

The problem is due to a faulty door switch, this is part of the door lock mechanism. The reason is that the oven thinks the door is open , this puts on the light and stops some of the oven functions ie the fan the fan element and probably the bottom element.
The answer is to fit a new door lock mechanism.

SOURCE: unable to remove the glass cover to change the light bulb in oven

I went out and bought a 4 inch strap wrench from LOWE's. I had never heard of one before. After figuring out from the diagram how to use it, I wrapped it around the glass bulb cover and did a counterclockwise twist and off it came. P.S. I'm a girl so I feel pretty good about that project

How do I fit the oven handle back on?

many have done this having never seen a De Dietrich stove /oven I can only guess that you need to separate the door halves to put the screw back in place . and I would use some LOCK TITE on it

De dietrich range cooker very noisy when oven on?

Have you checked the exhaust fans within the oven? These can make a lot of noise if something has come lose. They should be located at the top of your oven or on the back. I would check that.
Good luck

Hi i have a de-dietrich dod338 oven but ive found the light on the clock is very dim yet if i have a power cut and when i reset the power trip again its bright but as soon as i try to set the time it goes...

i had this problem also - it is the timer assembly. you can replace the timer assembly as a whole, or if you're useful with a soldering iron, replace the capacitor which is right next to the digital display. the display gets warm and this gradually breaks the capacitor. I replaced this - it was about £3 from rs components (the capacitance and other info is printed on the side of the capacitor). Hope this helps - i bought a replacement main board and clock assembly ( which got lost in the post so i tried to fix it in the mean-time while the replacement was sent out.) obviously don't do this fix if you are not confident, but that was the fix for my problem which is the same symptoms as yours.

My oven keeps turning itself off

the oven may be trying to protect itself because of a faulty device that says "I'm too hot". As electric clothes dryers have a thermal high temp limit switch to protect them, look for this device (may be 1 inch round with 2 wires connected) and replace it
