My Trace turns off and then back on by itself. I have had this phone (and battery) for many years. It drops calls, "locks up" and then turns off and a few seconds later turns itself on again. Is the phone malfunctioning or do I need a new battery? Any help would be appreciated.

Your device in in BOOTLOOP which causes it to turn off & on suddenly. It doesn't matter how much you charge your phone, it is not the battery to blame. It happens if you are unsuccessful in rooting/flashing the software. If you didn't do anything then do a full factory reset. If the problem still persist then you need to update your software/flash stock ROM.
First, make sure if this problem appear after you install any APP, if so you can try to brush system to fix it. Else maybe the following cases:
1, mobile phone motherboard leakage lead the current too large. 2, The inside circuit protection of the lithium battery is too sensitive, so it power off when circuit is large. 3, the battery itself is aging. 4, Battery contacts are dirt-bit, causing bad power supply. 5, The engagement between the battery and the phone is easy to loose bits. (try to remove the back case and press the battery then try to turn on it to see if it also turn off and on). If so, just make a piece of paper to stand the battery up Of course, don't forget to see if the power button is back to its own place
how old is the phone and more specifically, the battery? rechargeable batteries, unfortunately, do not last forever. i used to have a phone that didn't need charging for days. over time (a few years), i had to charge every night.
will it turn on while plugged in? if so, then it's probably the battery.
Try taking the battery out and plugging it in to see if it powers up for an extended period of time. If it does, the battery needs to be replaced. If it still powers down there is an internal problem with the phone, you could take it in for repair if you have warranty service on it. The repair is likely to cost more than getting a new phone. Most carriers will offer you a discount if you have had your phone for at least 2 years.
o.k. your internal digital tuner sounds like its goin. what you need to do is take the back cover off and trace where you hook up your
digital signal (cable,ant.hdmi).then you will see 2 silverish boxes one is analog, other digital. get refrence #s off of board of the tuner thats conneted (trace the signal input wire to be sure) then e-mail me email@example.com
My name is Tim and I am collection Specialist with Verizon Wireless, I see a lot of phones with problems but not any like this. This phone has truly seen its better days. Take it to a store and have them replace it with a different LG Rumor phone. IF you don't have Total Equipment Protection on your plan, then you are still covered under warranty for the 1 year or 2 year depending on the manufacturer warranty. But if you have Total Equipment Protection then your warranty is good for the life of the contract and you DO NOT have to pay the 50 dollar deposit, replacement should be free. If the Verizon Store is closed by you then call Verizon from a landline phone or another cell phone and they can get one to you within 2 days using priority shipping. If you don't have Verizon, then contact your service provider and speak to their customer service team.
