My CanonPC940 won't grab paper and push it through to print-also makes a a loud "grinding" noise. How can I fix this?

Sounds like a tire may have slid off of a wheel. Yes they have wheels. Also paper soaks up water like a sponge always keep your paper in the wrapper it comes in and the top side of the paper is where the seam is. Make sure you put the paper in so that the top side is the side going through the machine. I do how ever believe you have a wheel or gear out of place.

We have a MFC8460N, when we go to make copies there is a loud clicking noise & it says 'paper jam' & will not make copies

Hi

The clicking sound comes from the paper tray. The problem is that the paper gets jammed when it feeds the paper and it will sound clicking because the printer cannot pick up the paper at the tray.

What you will do is to put bond paper into a tray but the paper head should not be so tighten. Just put the bond paper with the top paper in upward position.

Please rate and make a comment if you find this solution very helpful and might help others as well. Post more comments if you need more help.

Paper will not feed from tray and makes a loud clicking noise. Says there is no paper in tray

The paper is not feeding from the paper tray. The loud click is alarming, but not the problem. Check the adjustments in the paper tray. The left and right guides should be snug, but the rear guide should give between a 1/16 inch and a 1/8 inch of free play.

If the rear guide is tight, or even snug, that is the problem. You can check for this by depressing the lever on the right front of the tray. Depressing the lever should raise the stack of paper out of the tray so that it can slide forward.

If you remove the paper from the tray, you will see calibration marks for the paper size you are using. Unlock the rear paper guide, squeeze the release, and move the guide ot the mark for the size paper you are using. For example, it you are using letter size paper, the read guide should point to "LTR".

My MFC8460N Brother won't print. It makes this

Gears on the tray is broken, or the gears that lift the tray. (thus the clicking noise). And the no paper is due to the actuators underneath not being activated because of the non lift.

Clicking noise with MFC-8640D

Make sure that the paper guides in your paper tray are not holding the paper too tight against the front of the tray, there should be about 1/16 inch play so that the paper can be lifted to the roller easily. Also take out your toner and drum and turn it on, if the grinding noise is gone you may need a new toner, some refilled toners are too tight to turn properly.

Keeps saying no paper Makes loud clicking noise

The clicking sounds seems to be made by the small gears on the side of the tray. When you move the gears, it should push a plate beneath the paper upwards, and the paper with it, allowing the paper to be feed.

I'm not sure what I did to fix it. I removed the paper and cleaned both feeding rectangles (to the front of the tray -- nearest you). One is underneath the paper and the other is in the front, center.

I then made sure that, when I move the biggest gear (the one that isn't round) that the paper moves upwards.

Did u fix the MFC-8860DN clicking sound?

We had this problem too. After checking to make sure the paper tray was locked in the correct position and trying to print, I noticed that the printer itself had pulled out the paper tray so the back was not flush. After looking at the paper tray to see what the problem was I noticed that the paper tray would not lock in the correct position. If you look at the paper tray there is a vertical row of little teeth that the lock "catches" on. On our tray they are worn down and broken in a certain spot, so the latch cannot catch on them. The clicking noise comes from the paper tray's latch trying to latch and then failing or fom the latch being slid forcibly past the teeth on the paper tray. When I took the paper tray out and wiggled it past the worn down area it made the same noise, only less loud since it wasn't inside the printer, which amplified the echoes.

Brother MFC 8460 N, all in one copier. Loud clicking noise (from tray area) when trying to make a copy, it will not do a copy now, says to load paper - tray has fresh, higher quality paper in it. Is this...

Make sure the stopper in the paper tray is snug against the paper. sounds like the paper is not properly in place and the tires are making the noise.
Could be it's trying to lift the tray and it can't, determine why; something stuck, out of place,

Loud clicking noise

This is one of the known issues with the HL-5240. This will require a replacement paper tray. Definately the problem if it is more of a clack than a click.

Canon Pixma Paper feed not feeding!!

Either the pickup roller needs to be replaced,(a maintenance kit) or the tray isn't pushing the paper high enough to grab. Tyr loading a few more pages in the tray and making sure the tray is seated properly. Then try replacing the roller.
