Here's the secret to tighten the screen.: the display hinges are secured in two places. On
the body of the computer, there are five screws (use a #1 Philips
screwdriver) labeled "D". Make sure they are tight. (They were on
mine.)
On the display, the hinges are held together by the same screws that
clamp the bezel to the LCD screen. They're hidden by two rubber
bumpers on the lower left and lower right of the screen. Pry the
bumpers off with your fingernail, tighten the screws, and voila! Your
display has been fixed. The bumpers will stick back on with the
leftover adhesive.
many can be easily tightened with just
the exposed screws on the back of the unit, others require the removal of
the hinge covers or back panel to tighten all the screws... and if you have
waited too long and some screws have gone missing then replacements can be
purchased. you can look up how your model is assembled by reading the
service manual found on support.dell.com.

step 1locate screws and determen if they are the sorse of the problem
if
you have an dell inspiron e1505 the 4 screws are on the back next to
the fan intake/exhaust vent and next to the charger hole these two
should be under little stickers, …
step 2fix it
all
you have to do now is just carefully screw in screws. do not strip
screws, if you damage your laptop or yourself its not my fault this may
not work on all laptops
Refer to the Dell service manual for exact instructions.

Make
sure you have tightened the screws under the display bezel and hinge
cover. You do not need to disconnect the display from the laptop. Just
remove the bezel by carefully removing the rubber bumpers that cover
the screws, they will remain sticky so you can replace them when your
are done. Then remove the screws and carefully pry the bezel off. It
helps to use your finger nail and carefully push the screen edge of the
bezel away towards the edge of the laptop while lifting up. Once off
you will find the hinge screws.
Now you need to tighten the
bottom half the hinge screws. There is an indentation of the left side
of the hinge cover (where the power button is) that you can use a screw
driver to pry it up. Then tighten those hinge screws.
If tightening the screws does not fix the problem then your hinges are worn and will need to be replaced.

MNFisherman,
Where in MN do you fish? We moved from Hopkins to TX a few years ago. Enjoyed a few days at Lake of the Woods last Spring even though the catches were few and small.
Checked all screws. They are all tight. What else? Could hinges be bad or out of alignment? How do I get at those?
Thanks!

Good options offered and easy for non-techs to get it. Thanks!
