Hi.

You will probably need to re-install your modem drivers.

Please tell us make and model of your computer, so that we can be more specific on how to reinstall the driver software.

    You will need to check if the device is enabled on the installed hardware list.

    You will also need to enter into BIOS settings and check if the modem is disabled.

    If the modem is not disabled in any of the two configurations, then the modem is either faulty or not present.

    After negative feedback the question will be transferred to a different expert.

    Goodbye.

Wound up reformatting the hard drive and installed Windows XP Pro 64-bit. But am missing correct drivers for the modem. It does not even show up in device manager

Hi activebiz,
I see you re-installed Windows on the machine with Win XP Pro 64bit but you are having issue with the driver as mentioned.
If I may ask before you installed win XP 64bit did you have win XP 32bit?
If so then try downloading a driver for a 64bit version to make the Modem driver work, having an Incorrect version of the driver will really not show up in device manager, and make sure the driver you are downloading is the correct driver.
You did not mentioned the Brand of the Machine or Motherboard that you have and the modem that you need a driver for is that a built in Modem on the Motherboard or is that a modem external provided by your Internet Provider.

I have configured my d link router and able to connect it with my win xp laptop and after i connect internet cable to the wireless router i am unable to access the internet through my win xp and win 7...

If initially the Win XP laptop was connected to internet at the cable/dsl modem, its MAC address would have been registered on service setup. If the router is now in place between the Win XP laptop and the cable/dsl modem, you would need to go on the Win XP laptop and log into the router as admin to clone the Win XP laptop's MAC address to the dlink router's WAN interface (internet facing side) so that the cable/dsl modem will see the previously registered MAC address and will enable the internet access.

Dell Inspiron 2200; Win XP pro; detect router but no connect

Have you change settings on your router? if not try to disconnect and reconnect your dell computer. if still not working. turn off both laptop, turn off the router and modem. wait for 10-20 seconds then turn on the modem first, and if the modem is stable, turn on the router, and if it is stable, turn on the dell computer and try to connect. If still fails, try to delete wireless profile adn recreate it. If still fails, check device manger if there is a problem in your wireless driver. If still cannot connect, perform system restore.

Will not run xp pro i'm stuck in 2000 mode mother board is ak77 pro 133 vt8233 will not run xp pro i've been told im pretty much sol. Is this true?

If you have a valid Win XP Pro CD and want to install the operating system you'll need to format your hard disk drive. If you have allot of data on you're hard disk drive, (In Win 2000) Suggest you create a second partition within the free space of you're hdd and install windows XP Pro. Boot you're system with the XP CD. Pay close attention to the display screens. Follow the instructions for creating a second partition.
Format the new partition. (Quick). Install windows XP on the new partition. Once completed you can copy your personal data to win XP.
If you choose to keep the win 2000 partition and you do not wish to have a dual boot system than remove/delete the root files from the 2000 partition. These files; Autoexec.bat and Boot.ini. You're new XP Boot.ini should read like this;
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer
Once you're satisfied an no longer need win 2000 use windows diskmgmt.msc from the run command to delete the win 2000 partition.
Win 2000 uses a FAT16 where Win XP uses the FAT NTFS.

Cheers!
