Question about Sony DCR-HC26 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
Remove battery/ power source from camcorder for minute, reattach battery/ power source and close the tape door.
If that does not solve problem then I'm afraid, tape mechanism got defective and will be replaced.
Let me know if you need tape mechanism part number info.

The tape can be moved without battery. apply 5v DC to the tape drive motor (a small motor at the bottom of camcorder) you'll see two small semi-hemispheres on top of motor. you'll need to figure out which one is positive by trial and error. nothing bad will happen as long as the voltage is not more than 5v.
