Changed the convergence out PWB now Blue is out

I chnaged the convergence out PWB to fix the red convergence problem, hooked everything back up and now the blue projection won't come on. I only get red and green. The blue was working before I changed the board. I switched the new board out with the old board to see if it was the new board and the blue still did come back up. What could this new problem be and why would the blue go out so quick after changing to the new board. All connections have been checked. Please help.

Re: Changed the convergence out PWB now Blue is out

Hi check first to see if the bulb is lighting up on the neck, if so you may have turn the screen control by mistake to off, turn it slowly to the max to see if there any picture, if none turn it back were it was and check connection on the neck of the bleu crt.

Good luck

Need schematic for Convergence PWB of Hitachi

Your TV most likely has one or more possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos aroundimages.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

WT-46807 Red convergence is distorted, in an arch at the bottom.

Yes your model is the V17 chassis mitsubishi. The Convergence Ics are located on the center board. you will need two STK392-570 convergence ICs. You can get replacement ICs at the following link and they provide free installation instructions. They are located on the backside of the wide heat sink with the fins on it on the center board

Convergence Issue?

I had the same problem but not as bad. I went to the menu, then settings. Tried the factory convergence reset first but that didn't work. Under convergence I selected the red option and got a screen with a plus sign. Press the AUDIO button and lines will cover your tv screen. It might take a while but you can try to fix the convergence at many points now. Select the area you want to correct by pushing the ENTER button, then up,down, left, right until its better and ENTER button again. Keep doing that to all areas. Once done with red, push VIDEO button and blue convergence will come up. Also INFO button helps explain a little. After I did this my picture improved a lot. My tv wasn't as bad as yours, but I hope this works.

Blue Convergence Problems

You will need to replace the conversion IC that controls the blue STK392-110 or STK392-120 however these are so cheap I recommend replacing both as the red wont last much longer. As they usually wear out around the same time. Heres a link where you can buy the replacement ICs and they include step by step instructions on how to install the new ICs.

Sounds like the blue convergence IC s bad. They are relatively easy to replace if you can solder they cost around 10.00 each and you should change both the red and the blue.
