This is a very common problem for this model phone. The lower flip assembly usually breaks as well where the cable runs through it. A new flex cable and housing can be ordered on ebay. The V551 should be the same cable and housing.

Ribbon keeps popping up as i type

1 or 2 reasons: Your ribbon cartridge is not properly snapped in place...i say this because this happens to me when my cartridge was not properly snapped in..or 2: the exposed ribbon should be placed behind the daisy wheel and directly behind those two raised hooks that looks like bent football gollies.and ALWAYS tighten your ribbon wheel once you snap it in place. there's a small yellow or red wheel on the top left of the ribbon cartridge.turn that until the ribbon is straight and even..i really hope this helps.

Removed old ribbon cartridge. Unable to install new one. I snap it in place but it is not working. No print. Can you send a diagram of how it is supposed to be installed. I have a model AE-710. Thank you

First thing remove the ribbon turn the hand feed knob and see if the ribbonmoves if not you have a bad ribbon. The ribbon has 2 little feet thar hook on the ribbon deck and then it snaps down and latches into place. Go to NADIST.COM, Click on current models you will find a manual there.

Changed the typewriter ribbon because it snapped in two. At first the typewriter would not do anything and was beeping and the "store", 1 1/2 and 3 lights were on. I oiled the carriage as...

do you have a printwheel in this machine (round grey disk with "fingers" evenly spaced around it with the charachters on it)? If not - there's your problem. you can repair the ribbon with a small piece of tape (no wider than the ribbon. stuck to the backside (shiny) of the ribbon then turn the ribbon until the taped part goes into the cartridge a ways. if the ribbon is moving ok and you still have a printwheel installed, make sure the ribbon is not getting caught in the printwheel.

How do I install the ribbon in my 8014s typewrter?

Swing the red lever on the R. side of the cassette to the front, remove old ribbon, wind new ribbon until slack is gone, put the ribbon behind the 2 black ribbon lifters, snap ribbon into place, move red lever back home, done.

The ribbon does not feel when I calibrate the printer.

I believe you mean Feed.
1. ensure the ribbon is above the snap plate and the label stock is below the snap plate in the 'throat' of the printer. Be sure the ribbon pulls withoout restriction with the head open.
2. Without ribbon attached to the take-up spindle, does the take-up spindle still spin? If not, check the belt/pulley inside rear cover of printer.
3. Take-up spindle (and feed spindle, for that matter) have a clutch mechanism that should have about 400 g of pull/resistance. If the clutch is slipping, that may cause ribbon to not feed.

New ribbon and can't get it to type

did you make sure that the end pieces are engaged into the brackets in the part facing you. Also if the correction tape is not loaded onto the ribbon prior to installing it, it will do that too.

Hope this helps, Denise

Get yourself a new ribbon Gen. Ribbon T-340 and a lift off Gen. Ribbon T-350 the lift off snaps onto the bottom of the ribbon and then both go on the typewriter there are two small tabs onthe ribbon cassette that go into notches on the front of the ribbon deck then the unit snaps down in the back held by the blue latch.

DS blinks and will not turn on

Hi
As complicated a console as the DS is, it is not surprising you have a problem after changing a case. Sometime the little snap on wires do not snap on right.  You need to go back in and  make sure the ribbons and snap on connectors are sucured. The ribbon and wire that runs from top half through the hinge needs to roll up one turn before in the transition from the top to bottom half.  You may have the ribbon upside down in the connector.
