After many years of trouble-free service, our Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-36FS120 suffered its first failure: the red gun abruptly stopped shooting. The picture is dark, made up entirely of blue, green, yellow and white colors. Is this, perhaps, an "easy" fix (fuse, etc.)? The unit weighs 100kg (220 pounds); access is difficult. Thank you!

picture is foggy with a lot of green in the background, very dark . the information and writing that is on the screen is most of the time not legible. no sharpness. It was a very good television.

In that tv you have surely the color circuit trouble - if you can you have to check  the red color circuit , first transistors then voltage or a capacitor not functioning ,

Sony Wega model kv-32fs120. Color is all reds and blues, no greens or yellows. We have tried adjusting the hue as per the owner's manual and also the re-set but nothing changes.

The color of the television are compose of three color RED,GREEN and BLUE.So the lost color is the green. The problem is in the color section of the CRT board in the chroma section and in the CRT socket board.Maybe theres a loose connection in the PCB like the cathode output transistor.

My sony TV trinitron wega 42 inch picture is red. Is there any solution to remove the problem?

The problem with your TV trinitron wega is at the color adjustment section. It is located at the color board mounted at the back of the picture tube. There are variable resistors that represents the color pattern in the picture tube. Adjust the red color to low level to lower the red color.

The colour of our sony tinitron color tv model no.kv-xf21m83 has got fading (Red colour disappeared )and the indicator flashes red a number of times between 3 second intervals and the est is sparking

this sounds as if the tube (crt) as a intermittant short in the red gun , try tapping the neck of the tube very softly with a screw driver handle, this just might just clear the fault

2001 sony wega 36" tv tube

If you turn the color all the way off the picture should have good black and white if not the crt is at fault. If it is good it could be the jungle ic or the possibly the red color driver in the crt board

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-24FS120 24" TV Color changes

Try turning down (off) the color during such an episode. If the image is tinted pink or green instead of black and white when you do this, you have either an intermittent short in your CRT (tube), which is terminal,or a gun drive problem, which may be repairable. If you're feeding it component instead of composite signal,it may just be a bad connection of the B-Y cable.
