Ruud Achiever 90 Plus wont start

I have a Ruud Achiever 90 Plus that wont start. I have checked the inlet/outlets outside the house and neither of them are blocked. When I turn the power on to the unit the Power light turns on and the Ok light blinks four times, stops, then blinks four times again it repeats this over and over but doesn't start. I have looked on the panel and there is no Light flashing diagnostics or codes. So if you could tell me what the light flashing four times means it would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've had repeated problems with my furnace. the furnace fails 2 or 3 times every winter. The company that installed has come out and given me different diagnoses for all the problems, but it will fail. they've replaced the limit switch, extended the PVC vent and air intake, fiddled with the gas pressure more than once, blamed the problem once on me using pleated filters, which I don't use anymore. Any suggestions or ideas would be a big help! thanks.

4 blinks is "pressure switch closed" there are 2 in the system according to the wiring diagram one for the vent system  and one for the drain system ... I just wiggled them and heard one "click" the fault light quit blinking and when I pushed the safety switch back in the furnace fired right up.  That being said is there a good website for learning how to maintain your own furnace?  I'll call a pro if I have to, but shoot I can fix a jet engine... this shouldn't be much worse.
Thanks  dan

This was exactly the problem I had. I will check to see if I need to replace a switch or just clean a contact, but I just wiggled the wires and the furnace kicked on. Glad I found this site, thanks.

I have the same problem. This system is very touchy. I have a backed up condensate comes off of the pvc exaust. I have to units side by side ,when I blow in one unit it blows clear. The other unit has a lot of back preasure so I blew air and cleared it somewhat. It seems to be working now. Also had the esaust assist fan freeze on one and it did the same thing. I oiled the bearing on the fan with 3in1 and it started working again. Hope that helps someone.

I had the same problem. The switches are in the top panel. Turns out a couple of bird had found their way in and caused a problem. I removed the now dead birds, vacuumed the area out and had to remove the wires and clean the contacts and I was back in business. The key being the dirtyh wire connections, try this before freezing for the weekend and before calling in the experts.

What if there is only 1 blink? A soft shutdown, according to the panel...

If you remove the service panels it should say what this error code means somewhere where the wiring diagram is. If you find the fault code list let me know what the code means.

Ruud achiever 90 plus furnace-water leaks from the drain pipe

This furnace should condense, as long as it goes into the drain. If it is leaking inside the furnace, there may be a seal that needs replacing in either the pvc drain pipe or concentric drain trap needs resealed.

Ruud achiever 90 plus furnace will not start with door on.

I would try to check your return air first, making sure there is no blockage and that your air filters are clean. It almost sounds like when you take the cover off, you are pulling enough air into the system for it to run, but as soon as you close it off, it's not getting enough air flow, therefore, tripping a limit switch inside the furnace. Most furnaces will also have the codes for the flashing lights and what they mean on the inside of the door covers.

My Ruud Achiever 90 Plus not blowing cooled air

Look on the condensor, (outdoor unit) at the very bottom of the rear panel and you should find a red reset button. push it. If that does not solve the problem, and the outdoor unit is running (make sure both the fan AND the compressor are running) then you are looking at a low refridgerant issue and possibly dirty coils.

In that case, clean the coils and have refridgerant added.
