Question about Braun Tassimo Espresso Machine/Coffee Maker
Turned on apparently OK this morning; then lights went out and will not come back on... power at wall outlet is fine...
Usually when there are no lights, the AC was cut by one of the thermal fuses on the side of the water heater. One has black wires, the other has white wires. You cannot locate replacement fuses anywhere! They were custom built for
Saeco (Braun). If you want, you can buy them at a 1000 qty. I pried off the aluminum cap of the thermal fuses using jewelers screwdrivers. Being careful not to
change the face shape. I took the metal disc under the cap off and popped it back
in opposite direction. I replaced the metal disk (BE SURE THE INSULATOR
UNDER THE DISK IS PUT BACK IN, IT INSULATES THE VOLTAGE). I replaced
the aluminum top, crimp two edges to hold. Then checked to be sure none of the terminals were conductive to the aluminum face.
These fuses are similar in construction to resettable thermal breakers, but the metal strap in the coffee maker does not allow room for the reset button.
