Question about Sony PlayStation 2 Slimline Console

4 Answers

Rock band I recently bought rock band for ps2 and it keeps looking for a microphone, even though I have a controller and guitar hooked into it. Nothing I do gets rid of it. Seems to be no where to choose instruments. Please help!

I do have an eye toy, but I sure as heck don't want the mic for singing. I thought there was a way you could set up to play one or all instruments

  • smiller976 Jan 26, 2008

I have the eye toy, but shouldn't I be able to use it without the microphone?

I am at the second Rock Band (for PS2) kit and .. the same problem: the system does not recognize the microphone being connected. I tried to connect its USB connector directly to the Playstation's USB port and it is still not detected. Bummer!

  • kappachino Feb 18, 2008

Eact same problem. Doesn't recognize that the mic is plugged in. Any solution?

  • Anonymous Feb 21, 2008

All the other instruments work fine in Multiplayer mode but the PS2 won't recognize the microphone whether it is hooked in through a USB self-powered hub or directly into the PS2. Someone save us from the vocal-less wasteland!

Same problem here. EA has sent 2 microphones and still no help. The system still does not notice a Microphone has been installed. HELP

ours wont even find the mic. it is plugged in and says its not there

  • Baron1971 Mar 16, 2008

We spent 159.99 for this game last night and hooked everything up but the system couldn't find the mic. We played musical chairs with the USB port and they all worked fine but mic was still not found. When we called the store where we bought the game from, not even an one hour later, the answer was to follow the instructions listed on the piece of paper in the box...LOL... classic... did anyone find a solution for this?

    Does anyone have a solution?

  • yip345 Apr 28, 2008

I have the same problem for the PS2. It won't do anything when I plug in the mic. It's brand new, out of the box, and it came with no instructions in the plastic bag it came with. Even if it did recognize the controller as the mic, how would you use the mic anyway?

    Same problem--No Mic recognition

Why hasn't Rock Band or Sony posted a fix for this?!  Even though as PS2 owners we have certainly fallen down the Sony food chain we are certainly not alone. Rise up my brothers and sisters and demand that the powers that be fix this technical glitch.

    Power to the PS2

It reads the controller as a mic since you use it for navigation. try just using the guitar

Have you tried reassigning the guitar to another controller port, one that's not linked to the microphone? Or are you using a different dongle with the guitar than what came with it?

Do I need more than one Wii remote for Band hero Wii????

you need a wii remote for each instrument and the microphone. you need one remote for the drums, one for the bass guitar player, one for the guitar, and one in close proximity to the microphone user. you have to set a wii remote near the microphone once the microphone is plugged into the USB port in the back of the wii console. i think there is something like a 10 foot radius meaning if the wii remote is too far from the microphone it will disconnect. so you can do only one instrument per wii remote you are using.

Guitar Hero Guitar with Rock Band disc

It depends on which version of Rock band you are playing, Rock band 1 will not work with Guitar Hero guitars at all, but Rock Band 2 on the wii will except them. and for the microphone you have to have a seperate wiimote sync'd up tho count as the controller for the the game to recognize the mic.

Unfortunately, the guitar that comes with the Guitar Hero does not work with Rock Band or Rock Band 2. Rock Band, as you mentioned, recognizes the Wiimote as the controller for the microphone.

Unfortunately, you will have to get a guitar that is specifically designed for Rock Band.

I know this isn't the answer that is popular, but if you vote for my solution, please vote at least "Thanks for Trying".

Gibson guitar doesnt play on rock band, only vocals come up

Rock Band and Guitar Hero instruments are NOT compatible on the Wii. They are compatible on the 360, the PS3, and the RB drums for PS2. Activision went their own way with the Wii and made life difficult for all of the aspiring musicians on the Wii. Sorry.

To play Rock Band without vocals?

Seriously you guys are hilarious, nobody's even given this guy a true and or correct answer. I too have had this problem and it's INFURIATING. Just trying to play the damn game: No you don't have to download anything

Solution:

Enter Game mode/ Training mode whatever mode USING THAT INSTRUMENT. I repeat DO not use the controller (the xbox360 controller) unless you want to use the microphone. It makes sense the microphone has no control hence by default if your'e using the controller the game THINKS you want to play with the microphone.

ROCK ON!!

If you are just going to play guitar you do not need to plug in a microphone.
