Jennair s136 drop in range

I am trying to resurrect an old jennair s136 range. It sat unused for 3-4 years. I have been able to clean off most of the grease but owner keeps oven turned off at fuse box b/c the fan won't turn off. I have been looking for
a manual online and can't find one. Want to try cleaning cycle but dont have instructions.

I own a Jenn-Air Model S136 purchased sometime around 1993. I'm looking for a manual with instructions on how to operate it.
    Thanks.

I have the same model and no manual. From what I have been reading in my search for a manual, you might be better off not using the self cleaning feature. This model tends to 'lock' the door (normal during cleaning) but refuses to unlock after the cycle is done. My problems stem from the electrical circutry - one's persons comment was that self cleaning was not good for the wiring due to the high temp & length of time. If you want to try it just 1)lock the door 2, turn both oven knobs to 'clean' - the timer will automatically set. 3)press enter on timer. 3 hours or so later your oven will be clean and hopefully the latch on the oven door will release

    Good luck

Cleaning a self cleaning oven

I couldn't find any information on that specific model number, but here is a link to a generic Jenn-Air Electric Range - Use and Care Guide which seems to be model non-specific. The instructions for performing a self-cleaning (as well as other tasks) might be the same for yours.

My broiler doesn't work in my JennAir S136 range and I think the problem is the selector switch. How can I confirm this?

Hello,

To do that you could check if the correct power is going to broil element. That can by TURNING OFF CIRCUIT BREAKER, remove door by opening to appx 30 degree position where is shold stay open, pull off door, remove broil element and attach a volt meter set to measure at least 240 volts ac and attach the meter leads to the wires on broil element, restore power set controls to broil and check for 240 vac at element. If 240 vac at element it's the element thats defective, if 240vac not present the selector switch is the problem, espically if bake works

Good luck,i hope this helps ya diagnose your oven
