I have a flat screen monitor. when i power up the screen the yellow light flash with two others lights. also i hear a click like the screen trying to power on. the model number for this product is 1702fp

Here's some tricks I would try...
1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or orange or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your display on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.

Try to disconnect the set and a box if being used from power for a while and then power both back as either could cause this problem.

OK, you get the yellow light which I assume happens when you plug in the power cord even though you have not pressed the Power Button. So, when you pressed the Power Button, did you see any other lights flashing such as the disk drive light? Did you hear the Fan running and the Disk Drive running? Did you hear the DvD/CD drive click once or the light on the DvD/CD drive door flash? If you did see the aforementioned that means your system is trying to boot and might in fact completed the boot process but the Video is not displaying. If it seems like the computer is running by no video is displaying try shinning a flashlight on the screen to see if you can faintly see the icons or something on the screen. If so that means your LCD Inverter is probably bad and needs to be replaced. You could attach an external monitor to the laptop then press and hold the FN (Function Key) + the (F1 thru F12) key that corresponds to displaying on an external monitor. If the video shows on the external monitor then surely you have an issue with the Laptop's screen. If the laptop is not running and you hear no fans, no disk drive running and saw no lights then you probably have a motherboard issue. Flashing yellow light usually means it is not getting the video signal from the PC, try it on other PC first to narrow it down the problem, bad VGA cable can also be the cause, last will be problem in the monitor itself which you will need to open up to inspect the inside. Post back what you find so we can helpou more. More likely to be bad backlights inverter board.

Huh! Sounds like a power issue. Unplug, try cleaning out the guts in case something got in there, and retry, and again with a spare power supply if things are still bad. It would help to know whether something other than the power supply's clicking, I suppose....

It means the display is in power save mode. This status occurs when the display is on but not receiving any signal.

Have you checked your video card or adapter?
Check the settings on the monitor itself.
If you didn't find the problem go into system properties (windows logo + pause)/hardware/device manager. Expand monitor/right click and see if your new monitor is listed. Is there a yellow or red symbol next to it? This would mean a problem, then right click symbol/properties and error will be shown.
Could be a memory issue.
Don't forget to try a "working monitor". This will narrow it down a bit.
