Any colors R,G,B out of alignment the convergence board are dead. The tv convergencce board must have it 2 STK convergencce ICS,and some or all it resistors be replaced to solved the convergence problems. The shop will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.
thats board i beleieve iff the unit has fuses on the amp board i beleive they are fb102b and fb101b fusables are you going to replace these.. more than likely if u still have partical convergence it may be a amp or a resistor not the fuse.. have you gone into convergence mode? does the read crosshairs move?
the part number for the convergence board is aa95-00705a and you can order it at www.vancebaldwin.com. send me your email addy to [email protected] and i will send you a wiring diagram....
Convergence board is dead.Go to Tv repair World.com buy a new convergence board replaced the board will solved ur problems.Samsung/Akai use same convergence board.
I had the same problem this week. I tried the convergence thing but it was impossible to fix. I still needed the repairman. He changed two convergence units ($325, parts and labor). Then the tv was still doing the same thing. We had to adjust the convergence and now everything is perfect. You will need your converter
If your model number is the PTH5498 you will need to replace both convergence ICs they are stk 392-040 you can get replacements at the followig link and they will provide fre instalation instructions with pictures. Here is the link. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
. they are located on a huge heat sink inside your set. Just look for the largest aluminum heat sink inside your set. You will notice them they are large black ICs with about 16 pins on them. Just unsolder the old ones and solder in the replacements. just be sure to put some heat sink compound on the back of the new ICs where they contact the heat sink. You can get a de-soldering iron at radio shack with a rubber bulb to make the de-soldering alot easier and you will also need a low wattage soldering Iron to solder in the new ones. Just mark any wires you remove to get the convergence module out. That way you will know where the wires plug in when your finished. It will need a convergence adjustment when your finihed. Be careful not to bridge any of the pins with excess solder. Inspect the pins with a magnifying glass when your finished to make sure the solder from any adjacent pins arent touching each other. If you need to know where to buy replacement ICs let me know.
Thank you!
