It sounds to me like either the oil pressure switch is being plugged after startup and causint the engine to quit then the plug settles until you start it again and it plugs again easiest way to test is to take the swith and remove the wire to it and see if the engine starts and keeps running, if so then replace the old pressure switch. If this does not solve the problem then the only other thing I can think of is the needle valve is partially pluged, at startup the fuel bowl is full and the engine startsbut after starting the fuel bowl runs low on fuel as it is not filling fast enough and the engine stalls. By the time you try starting it again the fuel bowl is filled again and the whole thing starts all over. Hope This Helps Don

Craftsman 208 cc ohv engine on cub cadet 524 swe snowblower.Starts, dies, then fine for a while, then starts hard, might die when auger is engaged,.could rebuild carb, but I don't think thats it

Mine did the same thing, it was a valve guide pulling out of the head. That changed the valve gap and caused the problem you mentioned. The dealer said it was common with these motors.

Snow blower dying out?

Its the carburetor. Needs to be cleaned. But try this first. On the bottom of carb is a round bowl with a bolt holding it on .If snowblower has gas in it clamp fuel line to stop fuel leakage. Remove bolt and pull bowl down slowly. Look in bowl to see if there is water at bottom under gas.To be sure dump out fuel and clean out bowl with clean rag and some air. Next place a small piece of tube in bottom of carb that you took bolt out to hold bowl on. Blow air in to remove any dirt and reassemble carefully and refuel carb and start engine. Good luck.

Can not start snow blower

Todays gas is horrible for gumming up after a few months. You need to clean the carburetor.
This description is for many 4 cycle engines.. it Might help The jet in the Carb is gummed up. Take that 1/2" bolt off the bottom of the Bowl..That IS the Jet. Many times the Bowl will just hold in place with the Bolt out.. make sure the three holes are clear. 2 are close to the head of this bolt and you should have a 3rd real small hole where the threads end. Screw it back in...see what happens

How can I keep my 2 stage snowblower in high?

I will assume you are referring to the 2 stages in the front of the machine. The spiral auger rakes are the first stage, they are designed to collect the snow and feed it to the impeller. The impeller is the 2nd stage and is to throw the snow up the chute. The lower rakes in the front do nopt throw snow only collect it.
