you have to trust the site is geniune as the encryption used does not have a valid security certificate with it and your internet browser cannot be sure the web site is who they say they are. Firefox browser comes up with a warning and asked to trust the web site. Chrome also comes up and states a similar warning. Internet explorer comes up also with a warning .
Without a valid security certificate your operating system cannot verify the web site is the geniune web site and it could be someone intercepting your internet connection and pretending to be the web site. You have to decide if you wish to risk logging into a possible bogus site or if it is the correct site you are after.
The HTTPS is using an encryption protocol and this is why the browser stops and asks do you want to take the risk or not. You may be giving your password and user name to a hacker that is the risk it is warning you about.

How can i resolve this issue "website certificate error"

The first item to check would be your PC's Time and Date settings on your computer and make sure the month, date, and time are all correct. If not correct, double click on your time in the lower right of your computer screen. Once you change the Time settings, Apply the changes, go to the Internet Time tab and click Update Now. Make sure all your browsers are closed. Press your Window's key on your keyboard + R key to bring up the Run Command Window. Type GPUPDATE /FORCE in the run field and press okay (Make sure your Browswer, IE, Chrome, etc., is closed).

Having a problem with expired security certificate, get a "Secure Connection Failed" popup that will not go away.

This is a known bug with toolbars that use security certificates. If you click the popup a LOT it does finally let you into the browser, at which point you can just disable the offending toolbar from view and the bug will be gone until the certificate gets updated. Try re-enabling it in a few days and see if it works.

1 Answer - pop up says certificate is expired but I don't understand what certificate it is referring to. I tried system restore (didn't work); tried removing and reinstalling firefox...

The problem is probably with the site, not your computer. Websites that provide secure connections (as I assume the one you are having problems with does since it specifies port 443) are issued a certificate by a signing authority, such as VeriSign. These certificates are only valid for a limited amount of time, after which they expire. That is why rolling the date back can solve these problems (or cause them). You should contact the web master and get them to update their certificate.

In Windows, you can add an exception for an expired certificate by going to Tools > Options, selecting the Advanced Tab, clicking the View Certificates button, selecting the Server tab, and then clicking the Add Exception Button.

If that sounds like a pain in the ***, its because its not meant to be a casual affair. People shouldn't get in the habit of ignoring security certificate problems.

This is an error when trying to log in to secure sites. This could be due to an invalid/expired security certificate, or it could be the result of malware/keyloggers on your system. I would be sure the computer is clean first. Follow the instructions here to make sure:

This will help, rate me fixya. thanks. Passwords
  • Remember passwords for sites: Firefox can securely save passwords you enter in web forms to make it easier to log on to websites. Clear this checkbox to prevent Firefox from remembering your passwords.
    • Even with this optionpreference checked, however, you'll still be asked whether to save passwords for a site when you first visit it. If you select Never for This Site, that site will be added to an exceptions list. To access that list or to remove sites from it, click the Exceptions... button.
  • Use a master password: Firefox can protect sensitive information such as saved passwords and certificates by encrypting them using a master password. If you create a master password, each time you start Firefox, it will ask you to enter the password the first time it needs to access a certificate or stored password. You can set, change, or remove the master password by checking or unchecking this optionpreference or by clicking the Change Master Password... button. If a master password is already set, you will need to enter it in order to change or remove the master password.
  • Show Passwords...: You can manage saved passwords and delete individual passwords by clicking the Show Passwords... button.
2.0 3:
  • Saved Passwords...: You can manage saved passwords and delete individual passwords by clicking the Saved Passwords... button.
Warning Messages Click the Settings… button to configure the security warnings Firefox displays while you browse the web.
Security Warnings Dialog
  • I am about to view an encrypted page: When this optionpreference is enabled, Firefox will notify you every time you are about to view an encrypted page.
  • I am about to view a page that uses low-grade encryption: With this optionpreference enabled, Firefox will warn you when you visit a page which uses low-grade encryption.
  • I leave an encrypted page for one that isn't encrypted: With this optionpreference enabled, Firefox will warn you every time you move from an encrypted page to an unencrypted page either by selecting a link on the page, selecting a bookmark or typing a new address into the location bar.
  • I submit information that's not encrypted: When this optionpreference is enabled, Firefox will warn you when you submit data via a form that's not encrypted.
  • I'm about to view an encrypted page that contains some unencrypted information: With this optionpreference enabled, Firefox will warn you when the page you're viewing contains a mixture of encrypted and unencrypted content. If an encrypted page contains unencrypted data, you should verify the identity of the page you're viewing prior to entering sensitive data.
