Question about Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop
I'm having trouble powering my laptop up. The battery is dead so it should still work with the power supply but it isn't. I tired these steps posted by Acer
and had no luck. The only thing that happens when I push power is the yellow light in the front will flash for a second & that is it. I have a feeling now that it's the power supply cord, but dang, it's not that old. I bought it a few months ago on Ebay. Do they just die or what? Not sure how to test it either if that is possible. Is there a certain power supply that I should buy that will last longer than a few months! The original one that came w/ the laptop frayed on me. I'm not having any luck w/ these darn cords!

If any of you purchased an Acer Aspire 3680 laptop about 3-4 years ago and it has had problems with the power port - you can get new parts and repair it yourself fairly cheaply. Youtube user maxcom83 has excellent how to videos on how to do it. You will have to purchase a new duaghter board.http://cgi.ebay.com/Acer-Aspire-3050-3680-5050-5580-Power-Board-w-dc-jack-/130420466707?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0

Check the power pin in motherboard, It might be broken/loose.
Try to remove battery and power on.

shut down pull the battery out try to find out where the cmos battery is . you scrambled the bios. i you can pull out the cmos battery out and can put it in again( a small watch like battery on the motherboard. ) put the main battery in again the big recharge able battery. and see if it boots up . If it does don't mess with the bios you may have the wrong version. If it aint broke don't fix it
