Finally resorted to opening up the back, disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, then it restarts. However, after charging it overnight, then starting it again in a short time it goes dead again! I have being doing a lot of research and wonder if this is a charger circuit problem that can't be fixed. I don't want to waste money on a new battery.

  • franmac Jan 19, 2008

Nothing happens once it goes off, it is just dead.

  • franmac Jan 19, 2008

We tried taking the battery overnight.
Yes the indicator shows battery as charged.
The battery charges right away. We have gone through this process at least a dozen times.
The device goes dead from 15 minutes to an hour after unplugging the battery from the motherboard and reconnecting.

  • franmac Jan 19, 2008

The battery indicator shows it as charged- is there another way to test it?

  • franmac Jan 19, 2008

It shows fully charged right away.

At the initial setup, the battery was still charging when the first hotsync was done. Could this have damaged a circuit or the battery?
As we have another E2, we are considering taking the battery out of the one thats working and to see whether that resolves the problem, which would mean that is a battery issue or if not, something else.

Hi,

Does anything happen when you try to turn it on? Does anything respond or light up?

You said that you have tried a hard reset and soft reset. Did you try an taking the battery out and leaving it out for at least an hour?

You say that you managed to charge the battery overnight. Does the battery charging indicator show? Does the battery start charging right away? After the charge, how long does it take for it to go dead again. Sorry for so many questions...

Thanks for answering all my questions. I suspect that this is a battery problem and getting a new one will solve it.

SOURCE: Palm Tungsten E2 stuck on Tap the center of the target

The digitizer part is defective and needs to be replaced.

You can find digitizer parts in ebay or other on-line companies, at reasonable prices.

Regarding the labor cost, depending of the repair shop you choose, it may be cheap or expensive.

Also, if you have minimum experience and skills in fixing electronics, you can try it. really is not so difficult, and minimum set of tools are needed for it

Best regards,

It could be the battery. may be the charger is stuck ,did you Connect the E2 to the charger then soft reset ?this should reset the charging circuit on the Palm.after that Let it connected to the power adapter for a good 2 hours. After that, disconnect the Palm and see if it will turn on. If not, then you need to get a replacement battery for your Palm.hpe this helps.pls do let me know thanks

Frozen Blank Screen - soft reset doesn't work.... Do NOT want to do hard reset because all my data will be lost and it is my life line. I am panicking. Please help!

If you back up all your data on your desktop it will be restored with your next hotsync after the hard reset. I recommend the hard reset but if you really don't want to try that they I suggest you try using the free palm chat. Here is the link for that. Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see palm Chat. Click on the link that says chat now and follow the prompts. Best wishes.

My palm just displays ''Palm Powered'' Tried soft reset

Have you tried a hard reset? Just remember a hard reset will delete everything on your device. All your data will be deleted, and formats, preferences and other settings are restored to their factory default settings. Don't perform a hard reset unless you've backed up your data, or you're willing to lose everything. Here is a link with the directions:

If that doesn't work then try the free palm chat service they offer. Here is a link to that:
