Re: When I goto my web browser to install my router it...

Follow these steps

1) connect the stright cable from your router to a switch and connect another stright cable to the pc from where you are trying to access the router.

2) if you dont have a switch connect a cross over cable directly to pc from the router ( stright cable some time works)
3) Change the PC Ip address to and subnet mask
4) open start programs --> run --> and ping ( u should able to ping)

5) if pinnging is ok .. then connection to router is good

6) now open your browser and type -- this should work now.

7) if fails -- try resetting the router -- you can see a small hole besides your network ports or somewhere around

8) once reset try agin opening the browser

9) if all else fails probbly the firware in router is corrupt ,, u need to reinstall .. them contact the support site of your router

Good luck

Can 2 wireless routers be connected wirelessly together no cable

In short, the answer is yes.

However both routers need to support what is knows as WDS (Wireless distributed Network)
This allows multiple routers to connect together to extend the signal of a single wireless network.

The steps change from one router to another, but in general you will need to log into one routers web interface (usually by first plugging a hard wire into the router then into your computer. Then open a web browser and put or in the address bar)

Default username / passwords are usually admin / admin unless you have changed them

Next goto the wireless section and set this first router up with the wireless name and security you wish it to have.

Repeat this on the second router, but this time you will need to goto wireless and look for an option that says "Enable WDS"
Some router have a "Survey" option, this will bring up the wireless network the router can see and allow you to easily select which network you want to connect this router to.
The one big step is to make sure the second router is setup the same as the first, you will need to make sure it is named the EXACT same, and also is using the same wireless password as the first.

In some cases you may want to disable DHCP on the second router, but this may not be necessary, so testing with DHCP on may be your first options.

Test the connection while the routers on are the same floor to start, this will save time going up and down stairs if settings need adjusted.

Also keep in mind wireless signal goes outwards from an antenna, so having one upstairs and one downstairs you may still see low signals, In some cases you can adjust one antenna on each router to lay flat instead of pointing up in the air. This should only be done on one antenna on each router if signal is too weak. It does not always help.

Hope this gets you started, feel free to provide model information for your router(s) if further help is required.

Im using a relatively new Belkin 54G wireless b/g router in windows 7 32 bit, and i have my computer wired to my router. I'm a fairly experienced technician but I'm just completely stumped on this one. I...

I dont know how new it can be if its b/g, have you tried to reset the router and then log in.
Your correct with the, and it sounds like you know what you are talking about so if you have reset the router, and tried different browsers, loooks like a problem with this router.
Dont know if this is of any help

How do i get my encryption code so i can add another computer to my router

typically you goto your routers web interface through your browser and login with your password (if you didnt set one check your owners manual on the default sometimes its left empty or it could be admin or password)and goto the security page and it should display your key (of course its not going to break it down in plain english for you in form of a passphrase. it will be encrypted) then generally you can use that to get your other computers to connect.

If you dont know the address to your router there are a couple common ones. usually or once in a blue moon will work or you can goto start---run---cmd and when that calls up type ipconfig /all and find your default network adapter and find default gateway and thats the address or find the IP address and change the last set of #s to a 1

Main PC can't connect but others can!

I had this model of router quite some time ago. I had some bad experiences where when I tried to login to it I was unable to, the web based management interface would not respond (as you have described) . Resetting the device would resolve this I would recommend trying that. Unplug it, wait a few minuets and plug it back in. Then try again to access the management interface. or or whatever via a web browser.

Wireless Connection

You need to goto the routers web page and set it up.

To do that, connect to it and get online with a wired connection.

Now, in your web browser's address bar, put your router's IP address number.
One I saw from belkin was out of the box.

Then click on go and the browser should goto the routers setup page, where you can set your security and wireless network up.

Then, on the computer that is going to be connected wirelessly, setup the wireless network card or adapter and input your network key.
