You will be able to restore the functionality of you Lyra after you reinstall the firmware you can download from the manufacturers website. This is a very common problem for mp3 players.
Here are the instructions once you have downloaded the file.
FIRMWARE UPGRADE STEPS
We highly recommend you do not connect your player to the computer until Step 3.
Locate the downloaded RD2010/11/12/15 upgrade file and double click it.
Following the onscreen instructions, allow the program to
completely install all USB drivers (Windows 98SE and Windows ME) as
well as the upgrade program and firmware. You may be required to reboot
once the install is complete.
Connect your RD2010, RD2011, RD2012, RD2015 to the PC using the USB cable.
From the “Start” menu, select “Programs” > “Lyra™ Personal Audio
Player” > “RD2010, RD2011, RD2012, RD2015” > “Update Device.”
After the program is finished searching for the device, drivers and
new hardware may be detected and installed. Then the “Update Lyra™
(RD2010, RD2011, RD2012, RD2015) Device” box will pop up with current
version and new version (1.51) of firmware shown.
Press “Start” to update the firmware of your Lyra™ RD2010, RD2011,
RD2012, RD2015. Depending on your existing firmware version, the
Upgrader might show an option for formatting the device. Click “Yes” to

Windows system tray icon to safely disconnect the Lyra™ RD2010, RD2011,
RD2012, RD2015 and unplug it from the USB cable.

Hi, you can try to upgrade the player's firmware, you can download it from the RCA Website (http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads.aspx?product=187), the firmware it's the second app listed.
If your computer doesn't recognize the player, you'll have to turn it
off and keep "PLAY" pressed for 10 seconds while connecting it to the
USB port, then update the firmware.
Work with your Lyra. I use the alphabet to keep my songs in the right order.
1. Connect your Lyra MP3 player to your computer using the proper cable, and click on your desktop to open "My Computer".
2. Click to open the drive labeled "Lyra".
3. Right-click on the song name, and choose "Properties" from the menu.
4. Go to the "Details" tab (I believe)
5. Highlight the name and change it. For Example: If I want the song "We Will Rock You" to be my first song, I name it "aaaWe Will Rock You". I want the next song to be "We Are The Champions" so I call it "aabWe Are The Champions"
6. Some songs have security issues and will not allow you to change their names. Then you are out of luck.
If you have Windows XP you need to download Musicmatch Jukebox in order to transfer music. Google it. You will probably have to pay for it. However Musicmatch Jukebox does not work with Windows Vista. If you have Vista, you can use Windows Media Player to transfer music to your Lyra. The Media Player automatically comes with Windows Vista OS. Of course, you need to connect your Lyra to your computer using the proper USB cable, so your computer must have a USB port.
Try a format,
Over a period of time your info can get corrupt from transering music back and forth.
To format plug it in to usb.

Right click on drive f: (or the approriate drive) and click format.
Let me know what happens, you will have reload the player, also try bypassing the software you are using to tranfer, by opening up drive f: and clicking and dragging your music into it , or you can copy and paste it into drive f:

I was able to access the play list using Windows Media Player. I was trying to get the computer to recognize the player, and it wouldn't do it. I even downloaded the Lyra Personal Audio Player updater... that didn't work or recognize the player. Try the programs that are on your computer for playing MP3's.
