Question about Sony StylePro SDM-S73/B 17" LCD Monitor
I had a question yesterday about the monitor I got from E-Bay and the person who answered me (Nspector) asked me the name of the monitor and I didn't know how to respond back to him so I thought this would be O.K. the monitor I have is a Sony SDM-S73/B
Well, open it up and look for the capacitors voltage (example 1000uf 16v). You can get it in any of your local electronic repair shop or radio shack.

1. If under warranty, take it to the service center immdtly.
2. The display cable might be loose plug it up.
3. Your system might not be giving signal to the display unit. Is the system running, Listen for a beep when u turn on the system. If there is a beep the System Ok for display or the problem might lies in the Tower itself.

The fault could be a faulty inverter board which supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or the CCFL lamp is faulty.
You maybe be able to get service, parts and DIY info from LCD Parts. Click on this link to their WEB site :-

I f you see the message on the screen indicating 'NO INPUR SIGNAL', you need to check the VGA cable and both ends of the connectors also. Try this monitor with other PC also.
This SDM-HS73/93 have common problem: bad backlight assemblies due to poor workmanship in sodlering works, see my pictures below. You should also inspect the caps. This is not recommend for DIY.

tlnwiayqydee, In terms of lcd monitor age, unit is VERY OLD. Cold cathode fluorescent lamps will need to be changed for new ones. Very hard to do for consumer/user!!! Best if you trade-in for new unit. Did you even look at the "date of manufacture" on back of unit? Look here for lamp information: www.rexim.com and www.jkllamps.com and www.lcdparts.net and www.lcdrepair.us You will need to also visit YOUTUBE for video clips of units being repaired. 12fixlouie

It may have bad lamp assemblies, you need the inverter tester lamp to verify. See my pictures here:
This is common problem with the 17" version also.
