Question about Sony Grand WEGA KF42WE610 42" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
The red "LAMP" light is flashing on my Sony KF-42WE610 tv. Before I buy a new lamp, I would like to know if the lamp is actually bad or not. Can you tell me how to test the lamp with a volt-ohm meter? Do you know if there is any other problem(s) besides the lamp going bad that could make the LAMP light flash?
Replace the bulb

Front Lamp Cover Door warps slightly, replace door = cost about $5.00.........has become a common problem Sony and others.
Ask Andrews Electronics for the part # of door for your Model.

You cant test the lamp the only way for sure to know is if the lamp exploded and you can tell that by looking down inside the lamp, yes there are other things like ballest and engine lamp, sony also has a recall on some of the sets, however all that info is at work so i don't know if this set is one of them, contact me on Monday and i can tell you more.

SOURCE: sony xl-2100u lamp
Refer to your owners manual on lamp replacement. Remove the old lamp and look at it. If it looks "blown" (like a flashbulb) then it is defenitely defective.
