You see the yellow red and white plugs that connect to the back of your console? you need to hook those up in color co-ordination with your t.v. if you have an hd tv use the other plugs.

When I play a movie on my xbox there is a grey box on screen

Hello there, sorry to hear about your issue. Usually this indicates that someone has hit the CLOSED CAPTION button or possibly the PIP (picture in picture) button on the TV remote. There is nothing wrong with the xbox, it is actually a setting on your TV. Check the remote to see how you can disable closed captions

I can hear the audio but I can't get a picture

Some x-box 360 cables have a switch on the end that inserts into the 360 console. It switches to HD TV if you have one. If it is switched to the wrong TV type you will get no picture.
Try a different cable or HDMI cable if the 360 had HDMI.
If none of the above work its probably 360 mainboard. Easiest fix would be to replace it or exchange if it has warranty. Good Luck

My xbox360 dosent shoe the picture but all i hear is the sound

check your video output from your game console and into your tv. Make sure that there are no loose connections, turn on the game console and check the video by changing the video mode. :)

if you can hear sounds. then theres no problem with the game console, just check for the video input and output of the game console.

Hope this will help you out

My Xbox 360 will not show a picture you can hear the sound but there is no picture.

1) make sure the video cable is firmly inserted into the back of your xbox 360. Sometimes a loose connection will produce this result.

2) Check the end to your television set and make sure it is in correctly. Is this HDMI ??

3) Cycle the inputs on your tv until it gets back to your xbox 360 and see if the picture appears.

4) If you have this hooked up via HDMI, connect it through another method and go into the video settings in your xbox 360 dashboard and set them to auto detect.

Let me know if this helps.

Picture will not show

You might want to try the following:

1. make sure that the AV cable is not loose or incorrectly seated in both the Xbox 360 console and the TV
2. make sure that you have the correct AV cable for your TV, to verify that the AV cable is connected correctly to the Xbox 360 console and to the TV, disconnect the AV cable and then reconnect the AV cable to both devices
3. if you are using composite cables, do not try to set any HDTV settings because you may lose the picture
4. make sure that your TV is set to the same video broadcast system as your Xbox 360 console (PAL or NTSC)
Example:
- if your Xbox 360 console is an NTSC console, make sure that your TV supports NTSC
- if your Xbox 360 console is a PAL console, set your PAL settings to PAL 60
- if your TV has a type of picture compensation enabled, disable it
5. reset your Xbox 360 console
- Remove any discs from the disc tray
- Turn off the console
- Turn on the console
- As the console starts, press and hold the Y button, and then pull the right trigger at the same time
- The Xbox Dashboard resets the display settings to the default settings and then automatically restarts the console.
6. Do not take your Xbox 360 console or its accessories to your retailer for repair or for service unless an Xbox Customer Support representative asks you to do this

RE: No Picture

Ok,

Then it is a hardware issue. If you have tried the switch, tried multiple cables, and tried it ondifferent tv's and it still does not work than this sounds link theknown X-Box 360 video problem.

Red Ring of Death problem is that the GPU(Graphical Processing Unit) has a tendency to overheat, which wouldmake sense why you get no video, since this is the internal componentthat sends out video through your a/v cables to your tv. The Sound cardand motherboard probably still work, so that is why you would still getsound.

So the only solution is to get it serviced.
