Question about Apple iPod MA446LL/A MP3 Player

Keep getting an error saying "The iPOD cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred [-50]."

Recently I was given a new laptop at work with Windows XP Professional to replace my old laptop with the same OS. I was able to sync my music without an issues on the old laptop.

I had to copy all my music files over to a share drive and then copy them back onto my new laptop. In the old laptop settings, all music was stored in the My Music folder under the My Documents folder. Within this folder, some of the music files were outside the iTunes->iTunes Music folder and others were inside this folder. Since copy and pasting the music over to the new laptop, I have moved all music into the iTunes->iTunes Music folder.

I had to download the latest version of iTunes from Apple and this installed fine. I wiped out all the library files thinking I would be able to synch and start new by adding the iTune Music folder again and re-syncing but I still get the same error in the subject line. I reset the iPOD but to no avail. The current list still resides there.

Any pointers would be appreciated please.

Yes, I have had this problem. First, I would disable the automatic sync with the iPod and ITunes. You can do this by going into preferences in iTunes. Download the latest version of iTunes by checking for an update. Then click on your iPod in iTunes and restore the iPod to its original setting. This will erase the whole iPod. Then you can sync it with iTunes again. That should fix the problem.

When you plug the iPod in, you should see the "Restore" option in iTunes. This will wipe the iPod and start over from scratch. DOING THIS WILL ERASE ALL OF THE DATA ON YOUR IPOD!!! If that works, you can then sync again and put all of your songs and apps back on it.

My ipod goes through the syncing process then says ipod cannot be synced. an unknown error occurred (13019). what can i do to fix it?

Make sure iTunes from your computer is up-to-date. Currently, the latest version is 9.0.3. You should at least have iTunes version 9 to make sure this error doesn't occur.
