Question about Logitech Webcam

Video reception comes on and off

The other party is able to see me clearly via video however I have difficulties seeing a continuous picture of that party. Reception seems to turn green once the start video button is activated. Why would this be so?

Camera only shows a very blurred picture. please help.

This should be an easy fix:

While viewing yourself with the webcam on, rotate the black plastic ring on the front of the camera right or left until you see a clear picture.

Click this link to view the user guide for the Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa. Please post back on this solution if you have any difficulties.

The picture isnot clear

There is a ring on the lens of the camera. Switch it on and rotate the ring to focus it on your face. If clockwise does not work then rotate anticlockwise till you get a good picture.

Unable to hear other party. Can see myself, and others, no sound

Which ever Messenger or Skype you are using has to be setup in order to function. I'll assume that you are using YAHOO MESSENGER and walk you through the setup. All Messengers and Skype have an Audio & Video setup in them so the camera and microphone work properly with their program.
Bring up Yahoo Messenger and on the top left click on MESSENGER.
Then click on "Messenger Preferences."
Next in Category click on "CALLIN & DEVICES."
When that comes up check and check to see that Microphone is set to your audio card.
Next insure that the speakers are set to you audio card.
Then go to "Test Audio"
In Blue "Open the call setup Assistant"
When the window opens follow the instructions. When finished your camera audio should function properly.

Also you need to go to the Video setup and do the same so it will broadcast the pictures.
Hope this helps. Bud

Video Off and on...mostly off

Normal 0 Normal 0 Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:

  1. Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
  4. Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see and talk to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud

Web cam on gmail

Here's how I did it:
- When you first pop out your N800 cam it'll ask you to set up an ID, this seems to have nothing to do with your gmail ID so I just used my name.
- I have a gmail account
- The other party has a gmail account
- In gmail, I had to go into 'Contacts' and set the 'Show in quick contacts' to 'Always'
- Make sure the other person is logged in to gmail via a browser.
- The above made the gmail contact of the other party visible in the N800 when I went online through wi-fi. NB: Setting the contact to 'Always' seems to be the only way of importing contacts from gmail into the N800.
- In the N800 I could then click the contacts applet (the two persons applet in the left column) and send an invitation (in the menu), and select the above contact.
- The PC person would then receive the invite in a gmail chat window, with a link. Clicking the link downloaded and installed the PC application. Apparently the other party also got to select a user id, because I then got a ring from the person, with a new ID that I recognized as different from the gmail name.
- Video popped up, but black on my side because the PC webcam wouldn't work.
- The other party could see my picture just fine.
- The voice had so much breakups though that it was close to unusable..
- The PC app. apparently used some 98% CPU, which could be the cause of the voice breakup problems. __________________

This clearly is some kind of device configuration problem..Open control panel->sounds and audio devices->voice Now click on test hardware and tap on your microphone and see if the sound meter is showing changes..then click next and tap again and see if you are able to hear it in your speaker. If you cannot just download the latest device drivers for your sound card and that should fix the problem! Also you can download latest drivers for your webcam here Try both of these and hopefully you will get it working!

Can't transmit video via MSN Messenger

As long as she is accepting your call when invited it should show up a little MSN advert then show your picture. The problem may be at your end, so check that you have the cam set up in settings and you both allow video to be accepted, ckeck all the web cam settings and menu options. If you haven't already, download MSN live messenger.
