System not detecting powershot a75 usb not recognizing it

Consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

My computer now has windows vista, previously windows xp. Do I need to download a driver to be able to transfer pics from the camera to my computer? Thank you Bernie.

You do not need to install a driver on Vista. It will detect the camera automatically, but the camera will be detected as "USB Mass Storage Device".

My computer, now with WIndows 7 does not recognize my camera , Canon PowerShot A75 or any photos on the memory card

You can try the following:
- install the software provided with the camera
- search on the web for new or updated versions of the software
- check the camera connection settings. The computer has to see it as a flash memory, and not peer to peer (PTP) transfer.
- Try downloading with a card reader. In general this is the better way, as you don't have to worry about camera battery levels

How do i

Hi,
You camera should have came with a USB cable to connect to a PC. Basically when you connect the camera to the computer, it should recognize it as a removable disc (if you are using XP). Then as a removable disc you can browse and copy/or cut the pics to your computer.
