Screen Flickering Blowing Graphics Cards

Hi Guys, I have a Phillips LS2400 pc which has a bad screen flicker and has blown two ATI graphics cards over the two years I've had it. I have just installed a new NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT graphics card hoping to slove the problem but the screen is still flickering and I'm concerned this card is likely to fail. Could you please advise what the likely cause of this flickering is? I have downloaded the latest drivers for the new graphics card but this has made no difference. Your help would be appreciated. Many thanks regards Jay

I have two monitors. On one I wish to watch a video in full screen mode, nevertheless, when I open an application on the second monitor, the video switches to normal size. How to avoid this?

This is dependent on the graphics card and supporting software. For ATI/AMD graphics cards, the Catalyst Control Center may allow you to adjust the settings to enable this feature. For NVidia cards the NVidia control panel may provide the correct setting.
In general you can only maximise windows when using multiple displays, rather than switching to full screen on one and windowed on the other.

My video card stopped working

If you have Integrated Graphics, you will need a Aftermarket Graphics Card to install in a vacant PCIe x16 slot. If it's a PCI ATI Graphics Card installed in your machine , Unplug the computer, remove the ATI Graphics Card and clean the card contacts ,using a can of Electronic Contact Cleaner, reseat and reconnect power and the monitor cable, reboot.

My hp slimline's screen flickers violently at times and then it calms, but sometimes my computer restarts. Sometimes on restart it will not communicate a signal to the monitor. Problem has gotten steadily...

That issue normally happens with the graphics card. I am not sure if you have a PCI or an AGP graphics card or an onboard graphics card. But for all of the issue, you can try updating the motherboard chipset driver, or the graphics card (incase you have the onboard or AGP graphics card).

Try logging in to BIOS stay for some time and check if the screen flickers. If the screen flickers still in BIOS, its a possible graphics issue

Unable to get my new graphics card to work

Just moments ago, I downloaded the latest (v9.4) Vista 64-bit driver for my LX 6200 for my HD 4650 512MB video card. It seems to have fixed a cursor flickering problem, but didn't help with the screen saver problem. My card is made by Sapphire and I downloaded the driver from there site at:

Disabling the built in HD3200 is key to successfully installing the Catalyst software.

Cleaning my computer

Hi to clean up inside the best solution is to go to your nearest computer shop and buy a spray can of compressed air and a hardware shop and buy a small soft paint brush.
Disconnect all power and open the case with the computer on its side. Gently brush all dust you can see away and then using the spray blow out all heatsinks and that should help.
You should also make sure that all the PCI cards are pushed in firmly, especialy the graphics card.
