Question about Olympus Stylus 790SW Digital Camera

Green colour showing through photos??

Hello :)
I have a new olympus 790SW and am noticing in most photos there are green colours (usually on the edge of something - like the outline of people or things).

Have tried a few different photo options so this doesn't happen but can't seem to find a solution....

Any advice would be great - not sure if I am doing something wrong or if the camera is faulty.

Thanks :)

Re: Green colour showing through photos??

Okay I called Olympus and they told me to try to reset the camera. I know you have tried using the reset option already from the meun, but apparently if you open the battery door, leave it open and hold down the Menu button and the okay button at the same time, it will (as the olympus guy called it) do a hard reset. This should restore the screen back to what he refered to as the factory settings. After you do that shut the battery door, and turn the camera off. Then turn it back on and you should be in business. it didn't work for me, but that is because mine was apparently sold to be after it was the floor model ( I had no clue). I have since returned it for a full refund. I thought I would pass on that the olympus help support people said.

Image saves as random purple/ green patterns

Your CCD chip in the camera is defective. There is a lot of information on the web regarding this phenomenon. Here's a link to much of that info,
Note that the info is getting a little outdated now, as this problem has been identified and rectified. It only appeared in cameras that are now about six years old.

White turns to green

Check the white balance settings. You may have accidentally altered them to "fluorescent light" settings.

Vertical lines and distorted colour on display screen

Just as I got on line to this site I saw your problem being typed in and it's the exact same issue I am having with my Finepix 5000. I've owned it for all of 4 plus years with no problems and really decent photos. I'm getting a blurred image with green/magenta colors when I look through the viewfinder. When I take a photo, it shows the same. It wasn't dropped or even barely touched between the last good photo taken and this. Attached is an example of above description. I would appreciate any advise. See below.7ccd05c.jpg

Likely all you can do is to re-format the card.
if you have a usb memory card reader if may give you a difference than the camera files are presented but not likely.
right click on the drive and format.
it became corrupt when writing or when it was connected to system.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Fuji should fix this for you for free. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

Color shift problem with 330GS

This is because the RGB filters in the camera are not perfect, and there is no one "green" colour. The green pixels pick up a wide band of colours, and are somewhat sensitive even to red and blue, especially near where green shades into red.
